TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2007 and later Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "MPH change w/ 306/65/18", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
Current Mods:
Rhino Liner, Volant CAI, Borla dual exhaust, 3"front/1"rear Toytec lift, 305/65r18 BFG AT K/O,
Future:
GPS, Sirius, Black Headlight (when I get the guts to do it!)
305's show the speedometer about 5% slower than the stock TRD 275's
So, whatever speed shows, add 5% and that is your actual speed.
50 showing = 52.5 actual
100 showing = 105 actual

So with the speedo being 4.864% too slow, then to figure fuel economy we would have to take the miles we drove according to the odometer and increase that by the above percentage (and then obviously divide by gallons used), right?

no......it plugs in behind the gauge face plate....u have to remove half the dash to install....will not void warranty as it does not add any power to your engine or alter your trans....its just a unit that re-calibrates the larger or smaller tire size and tranaslates it to the ecu into thinking its the stock tire size...

Sorry for the stupid question, but does this affect the odometer? I'm guessing yes. So say I drive 1000 miles, what would the odometer read?
Yes, if you are talking about 305's from stock TRD tires, then you would need to add 4.864% to what ever the dash said, but you only need to add it for the miles you put it on the truck with the new size...
So if ODO says 17000 miles, but you put the 305's on at 10,000, actual would be 17340.48 miles.
7000+4.864%=7340.48
10000+7340.48=17340.48 miles

Do any of you understand tire mesurments? 305 is the width of the tire. The secound number is height and thats what messes with the speedo! Wow so suprised guys. Quit giving false info when you don't even understand tire sizes.
we do understand tire sizes (at least I do). I know that 305 is the width in mm and the next number, 65, is the percentage of the width that is the sidewall height - in this case the sidewall is 198.25 mm. Thanks.
