This is a discussion thread titled "Took my 2008 Tundra to the Dyno", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
Hey guys. last Friday (not yesterday), I picked up my Tundra. Got it with 10miles on it. Since then, I've put 400 miles on it.
Anyways, Every month or 2 my business hosts a dyno day. If we have time, i like to throw my cars on the dyno. We had time today so i strapped it on
First pull, wemade in 4th, but we hit the speed limiter at 116 at 5300rpms. I was kind of dissapointed, but the truck made 330.5hp and 341.0 ft-lbs of torque. So we were stoked!
Then the next 2 pulls we made in 3rd. Made316.7/341.5 and then 318.4/322.6 on the last run
Has anyone seen this type of issue with the trucks when dynoing them?
This truck is awesome. My last truck, 97 Dodge Ram v10, made only351.1hp and 347.2 HP. I was very pleased with the truck.
What was done to your 97 Dodge V10 to make over 350 HP at the rear wheels?
Bet he typed a "3" when he meant "2".
Those trucks had around 300HP at the flywheel...........

I have never seen a 5.7L Tundra dyno 330hp stock. The average seems to be about 310 across the board after the vehicle has a few thousand miles on the odometer. These trucks do not truly show the full extent of their power until around 3,000 miles. If your truck has 400 miles on the clock, you haven't even started to break it in. Is that a Dynojet? If so, how long since it was calibrated?
I'm not trying to insinute you are lying. I just think there is some error in measurement. There is a member on here that owns a speed shop that recently posted dyno results. After major tweaking through ECM tuning, he is dynoing the same as you...
Yes, I understand. I saw his posts. Thats why i asked what gear he was in. Gearing definately makes an issue (finding 1-1). After break-ins make really no more power than how the truck sits now.
This was on a dynoJet 248 that reads similar to other dynojet 224 dynos in the area.

You have the by far the highest stock dyno numbers I have ever seen. Either you have a "factory special" or the reading are off. If those are true numbers, that is darn good. I had an Integra that made 15 hp more than any other Integra, but it had been a Magazine test car and the ecu was not exactly stock.

How much does it usually cost to get a vehicle dynoed?
normally, shops charge anywhere from $60-75, if you want to use the wideband, its typically $10-25 more.
My dyno days are only $50 with wideband. to get people to want to do it when we're ready to run a lot of cars on the dyno and it gets a lot of traffic to the shop.

Dyno numbers do vary greatly from dyno to dyno/area.
My piped and mapped ZX12 had the shop record at "only" 160 HP.
The operator actually made a 2nd pull just to make sure.....he was impressed even though I was kinda bummed.
Should have read a lot more according to a lot of other owners' runs across the WWW.....but the shop I used had a stingy dyno I guess.
