sr5,
i dont like electronics but.
hit a button and go from a lame 1 tire burnout out to a posi traction 2 tire burnout. that is cool. how many other stock trucks can do that.

I think toyota has a good system (diff)not as good as say a air locker

all we need to understand is how to use it to our advantage.

Okay , I have been trying to figure this out myself, so I just went out for a test run. I had it in the above option 3, no atrac, no vsc, no lsd. Smoked the right tire, but the engine seemed to try and go into some type of restraint mode, not quite shut down. Is this by design? I dogged it pretty good. After backing off, everything was normal. I should add that I had in in 1 gear, shifting manually, and it broke up a little before I bumped it into 2nd. Is it governed perhaps at high rpm?

question. i have a 4x2 and planning on going to the beach. its a beach where its easy to drive on but if you are not careful you can get in a heap of trouble and need the assistance of a 4x4. would it be better to have both tires spinning ar once or the limited slip. and please dont say stop by dealer on the way and trade 4x2 for 4x4. hahaha

If you are in mode 2 (A-LSD only) does that mean there is no throttle limitation like TRAC applies? Does A-LSD work on all 4 wheels when in 4HI? We need some definitive detailed answers here, not wisecracks.

Since you have an 08, you have two choices when in A-LSD mode. When you first push the button to go into A-LSD mode, A-LSD and VSC are operating,(TRAC is disabled) so there is a possibility of the throttle being cut by VSC. Your second choice is to push and hold the button when in A-LSD mode, this turns off VSC and leaves you with just A-LSD operating with no throttle being cut.
In 4WD, VSC is disabled and you have A-TRAC, which is like A-LSD only it works on the front and back wheels.
If you do a search, you will find a couple of PDF files I have posted several times in different threads explaining how the traction control works on both the 07 and the 08.

Skyhammerz, I think I got it now...
Just leave it in the garage and take the bus!

Seriously though, your explanations in previous posts cleared it up for me. I was not understanding the differences between 2wd options and 4wd options. Thanks for being patient with all of us idiots here.

OK...you young whipper-snappers.

For just normal, old-man driving...like to church and the liquor store, there should not be any buttons pushed and no special illuminations in the gauges areas...right?

I did the exact same thing last night. I've got an '07 4.7L 2wd. I was highly pissed about the one tire fire. Can I light both of'em up from a stop? Or will it not let us?
