I dont see anything wrong with your liner Cliff other than you payed way too much for it. I would have skipped the wheel wells, and just done the tailgate and a sheet in the bed.
Dude, you must have had a crappy liner because I have no problems with my snowmobile on mine and have been using it for 2 years. No sign of any wear and I do not have a really light sled either. 06 Summit 1000 151.

I think it looks horrid and I really cant believe someone would spend over $400 to ruin there brand new truck. There is one thing that ugly ply wood could do for him. With the added weight, it mite help the bed bounce thing if he has it.

y'all just dont understand that some people use their truck for WORK. it MAKES them money, not suck money out of their pockets on mods like stereo, rims, lowering, lifting, etc. They could give two sh*ts about how it looks as long as it WORKS.

Some people want to drop $400 on an exhaust to make it sound better, this buy drops $400 to make his bed work better for him.

The problem I find with the Tundra is that it looks so nice and has such a nice interior that people are buying it for pleasure and not for work as a work truck is intended to be. These "pleasure" people log onto TS to show pics of their shiny modded trucks and then become appalled when someone does an ugly mod that actually adds workabilty to the truck.

It seems that some are having difficulty reading the subject heading.....I am well aware what the liner looks like, I have not claimed any different.....

For my intended use, the liner is perfect....It addresses the weak tailgate and allows me to load a sled/quad without worrying about damage to the bed.

Regards,

Cliff... I had a wood liner in my last pickup. It was 5 years old and still in good shape. I preffered wood to the other types of bedliners that I have had, alum checkplate, plastic tub style and Rhino Liner.

Pro's of a 3/4" wood liner:
-It stiffens up the front of the box so if you hit it with a sled, quad or sliding cargo ect it won't drive the front of the box into the back of the cab(3/4" plywood is very strong).
-They are better at keeping things from sliding around in the box better than hard plastic sprayins or tub style plastics. The tub style plastic liners are the worse for stuff sliding all over the place and smashing itself to death.
-Wood liners don't come loose and rattle like alum checkplate.

Con's - Maybe it doesn't look too good. But who cares.... It's not like you have bolted it to the grill!

I think you made a good choice with a wood liner.

I am doing one as well but can't do the inside of the wheel well due to the width of my water tank.

I use my truck as a truck, ive always used my trucks hard. I have a fool proof cost effective solution. do nothing with it, get bed caps so the rails dont get scratched. when the bed gets scratched up get and automotive paint you can roll on tape the bed off and paint it. I use black paint it once every few months. i almost got stabbed in the neck by a guy one time because he said i was a moron for doing it. he say it and then replied "looks better than i thought, it kinda looks like a bed liner. cheap and effective, bed liners dont stay looking good forever neither does line-x they will all need replaced or fixed eventually. atleast this way you can do it yourself.

Doesn't effect the looks of the truck at all(not like it's bolted on the outside of the bed) and you probably cant even tell when the gate is shut. Serves his purpose well, I just don't get the high cost. Seems like you could just cut and install yourself,am I missing something here. Is it really harder than I think?

That is the benchmark standard for work trucks in the diamond drilling business and the oilfields up in Canada. If you rent a work truck in northern Canada you will get that exact type of liner. Its for guys who couldn't care less what it looks like as long as they can just toss 200lbs over the rails and just let it drop. The plywood liner is the toughest solution, and it sees the toughest use, If I were loading sleds in the bed, I would use it. I just got a crap drop in for free and take the extra few minutes a day to load it with a bit of care, I would rather have the plywood for work purposes but I can make do with what I got for free.

I can promise you, guys who put that down in the bed as a liner are using there trucks hard up here. Can you make something as tough and pretty, yep but its not worth the effort for guys working 84 hours a week in the middle of nowhere. Especially when a truck that last 3 years is a good one.

Well maybe Cliff will have the common courtesy next time to check with you first for approval. God forbid you might walk by his pickup in a parking lot somewhere, stick your nose in his bed, which is none of your business, and be offended by the sight of a sheet of plywood. I can't believe the superior self-righteous crap that gets posted here in a failed effort to feel self-important. Give me a break.

Looks good Cliff...Function over Fashion!

Let all these other pretty boys/girls buy those hot tight PINK stretch pants from Vickies or the ones that say JUICY all over their tailgates keep preaching, fashion over function, cause they obviously know whats best!

Lets see some pics with the sled/snow machine loaded up ready for action!
