Default TRD or not for future lift???

What are your opinions on the getting TRD package if I plan to lift the truck in the future? I am looking at two tundras one has the TRD pkg and one just has the TRD's wheels only, the TRD equipped truck is about a $1000 more. Would I just be wasting my money if I lift the truck in the future? Thinking about going with a 4 or 6 inch lift with some 33's.

Well it depends on wheather or not you want all the other stuff in the TRD package or not. Its not just a suspension package it comes with a bunch of other stuff. If you don't care about the extra stuff than save the $1000 for the lift and get the none TRD. Also, if you're planning on doing a 4 or 6" lift, you sould go with 35s IMO. These trucks can fit 33s stock. Just my .02

if you're going to lift it and equip with new tires and wheels then the TRD option will only provide you with a different anti sway bar up front and two cool TRD stickers for the sides.

Well actually if you look at the window sticker (at least on mine) the TRD pack consists of TRD offroad tuned suspension, 18" TRD wheels, the junk BFGs, Engine and gas tank skid plates, front tow hooks, and then for some reason chrome bumpers and grille surround, power windows/locks, cruise control, keyless entry, fog lamps, sliding rear window, intermittent wipers, carpet flooring, fabric seats, and the TRD stickers are all part of the TRD package. All those things could be ordered seperately, but you should look closely at the window stickers and make sure the non-TRD truck has everything you are looking for.

Thanks guys, the non TRD truck has the 18" alloys on it so the only difference really is the skid plates, tow hook, fog lights, decals and the TRD tuned suspension which is what I was not real sure about. Leaning towards the TRD equipped truck at the moment.

I got it for the fog lights and sliding rear window. Plus was told that it will have a better resale value.

If you're going up 4-6" you'll be replacing suspension parts, so the only reason to go TRD would be for the other extras, like the fog lights.

How many of us proud Tundra owners drive around in our trucks and when we see another Tundra the first things we look for is whether or not it's a TRD, Limited and or 5.7. At least I have two of the three and can make fun of those of you who don't.

I removed my "valuable" TRD stickers and completely debadged the truck. You can still tell it's TRD by the wheels, and if you're next to me at a stoplight, I might show you which engine it has. (by the way, the 5.7 is the only engine available on the crewmax). Personally, I don't care if anyone knows anyway.

My lifted TRD RCSB gets compliments all the time. The wheels go well with my Raptor tubes. IMO, the TRDs look better lifted than the non-TRDs.

Default Re: TRD or not for future lift???

depends on the lift components.

are you gonna go with coilovers? If you are, scratch the trd package. You won't need it. only go with the trd package if you plan on keeping the stock shocks and springs.

if you go with a 6inch lift w/ 33" tires, it will look g a y. tires too small

if you go with a 3-4 inch lift and no coilovers, it won't be too much of a waste if you get the trd package.

just my .02
