My pre-cut tint came in. Who has tinted a tundra before?
Ok so my precut tint from ebay came in. (it actually looks like some pretty good quality stuff) I'm only doing the front 2 windows. The instructions are kinda vauge. Has anyone removed their door panels on their tundra before? Do you just pull around the edges until you feel the tabs release or is there another way? Will anything electrical get damaged?
Someone help before I fu(k something up. lol
thanks in advance
Re: My pre-cut tint came in. Who has tinted a tundra before?
Just out of curiosity why would you have to remove the door panels to install tint? I've never installed tint myself but i've watched installers numerous times install it on my vehicles including my 07 Tundra and they've never removed anything.

i tinted mine myself and i actually took the glass out of the doors and brought them inside...the tint covers the entire window below the trim...probably not necessary but i wanted to make sure it adhered below the trim good

some people like to do their own work...did the tint on the sides and windshield for twenty bucks...installed my own lift kit...took off the bumpers for the line-x dealer...installed the nav and backup camera myself...you get more quality work when you do it yourself...i guess i don't understand why people pay someone to do everything for them

diy tint is harder than i thought. I tried to do the rear passengers. complete disaster. messed up trying to tuck it under the trim. and i kept touching the adhesive side to the panel. should have just paid someone to do it.
Re: My pre-cut tint came in. Who has tinted a tundra before?
I used precut tint from snaptint.com on my Tundra. Removing the door panels is really unnecessary. Just crack the windows about an inch and place the tint up there. Squegee out the water on the top half once the film is in place, then roll the window up. as you work your way down to the bottom edge, push the rubber seal down with your squegee and it will hold the bottom edge of the tint in place until it has had a couple days to setup, then you can roll it up and down again. Removing door panels or glass is really just making more work for yourself. NO tinters in the industry do this that I have met, and I know quite a few.

It sounds like you didn't wet everything down good enough, try again

honestly it takes about 3 minutes to remove a door panel and it will make the job 10x easier....do yourself a favor and pull it off real quick so you don't wrinkle the film and have it looking like crap

Re: My pre-cut tint came in. Who has tinted a tundra before?
I've seen it done many times and I've done it many times. I seem to have varying degrees of success but it isn't consistent. I just take it in, and have it done professionally when I have the time/money.
Re: My pre-cut tint came in. Who has tinted a tundra before?
I did mine. Very easy. Got the tint from Xtreme city on ebay. I can't cut worth a crap ,so the precut really rocks and required no cutting on my part. I also got the sun strip, but that was not pretty. I got a wrinkle by the rearview mirror that I can't get out.
My only regret is that I didn't get "The Good Stuff"........but I will!!
