TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2007 and later Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "Backup Camera on the Blink", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
Got my truck about three weeks, 50% of the time when I back up all I get is lines in my screen, and no picture. Anybody else ever have this problem??
I don't have Nav so my screen is next to the mirror.
1) check the wiring leading to the rear view camera -- you can access the wiring between the tailgate and the bed of the truck by putting the tailgate down and look at the middle part of the tailgate when the tailgate is down. Verify the connection is secure here then try the camera again.
2) Failing the above, it is probable that either the screen has gone amok or the wiring connection to the camera in the overhead console is not secure.
3) If #2 fails, then take it to the dealer or have someone here from TS give you schematics to the wiring.

25-30 ft Travel Trailer....... bye bye Pop-Up
I was getiing the same thing, and went to to the dealer twice, they replace the connection on the splice wires area, they said moisture and corrosion on the terminals was noted, after about 3 moths and a couple thousand miles the problem returned, specially if i went to reverse before the radio, camera, nav, was all the way ON, after turning the ignition switch, dealer replace the camera two weeks a go, no probles so far.
Good luck.
