TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2007 and later Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "Rides Like a BRAND NEW Truck!", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I have the TRD and a factory tow hitch. I tried the Rancho adjustables and any improvement was on the softest setting, but it was minimal. I removed them when I met with the factory rep. and put the Bilsteins back on because I didn't want to hear any BS about the shocks. (they are sitting in my basement) I'm beginnig to think that I need a stiffer spring and softer shock set-up. I also want to compare shackle types. Over all I like the truck but as a first time Toyota owner, I'm not to happy with their (lack of) response to this problem. T -2 years to trade and back to Chevy?
As a previous 01 Silverado Ext Cab Z71 4x4 owner, the 07 Silverado was on my short list when I bought my 07 Tundra TRD 4x4 DC. My guess is the 07 Silverado would probably ride better on I-10 through Beaumont, similar to how my 01 rode better than the Tundra. However, there are so many things I like better on the Tundra than the Silverado that I would still choose the Tundra. The PRG mini-pack improvement to the ride just makes the Tundra that much more enjoyable.
In contrast to what you said, I think the combination of the mini-pack, which is softer than the stock overload, along with softer shocks than the Bilsteins is what has given me a better ride. The stiff stock overload spring seems to be the main cause of the bed bounce, as virtually everyone has said the ride is significantly better when they swap the overload for the mini-pack, even with the stock shocks. In fairness, I believe there have been two in this thread who reported the ride wasn't "significantly" better.

Rear Susp: ProComp ES3000 #326510 (2.25" taller than stock), 1.25" blocks plus PRG mini-pack (http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forum...and-new-truck/) gives 2.25" total lift, parking brake cable bracket spacers, wheel well height 43."
Front diff and rear ds drop; trailer hitch electrical harness tucked up above bumper.
After 20K miles swapped 305/65/18 BFG AT for 285/75/18 Toyo AT, still on stock 18x8x60 offset TRD wheels, about 1/8" clearance to sway bar. Like the extra height but miss the width. Next time either 305/70/18 or 35x12.50/18.
Added 5th 285/75/18 Toyo AT as spare. Foam pad above spare to help with bed bounce.
Bed Bounce: Stiffer E-tires are worse than stock P-metric; biggest improvement from PRG mini-pack, slight improvement from shocks and foam pad above spare. Still a stiff ride but tolerable now.
Best things about this truck: 5.7 and transmission, interior size and comfort, very quiet at high speed.
Worst things about this truck: bed bounce, no VSC in 4wd, mileage sucks above 70.
Quick question.. Not sure if most of you that installed your mini-pak installed that little bolt that encloses the C-clip piece on either end. I know Thirdhorseman said they end up squeeking/rattle so he left his off.
Would those have any capability of causing any sort of bind or prevent the mini-pak from rebounding like it should. Maybe I should remove mine or do you think they make no difference at all.

Thanks!
I have mine installed. No squeaks or rattles.

I went ahead and installed my Ranchos today. Put them on setting #1, then went for a ride. Still vibrated. It shakes really bad at 75 mph. Anyway, When I got home I went ahead and changed the setting to #4. Will see if that makes a difference in the morning. I am debating if I should remove one of the leafs from the mini pack. Will talk to greg in the morning. Any here is a picture of the mini pack installed and my truck.

Are you saying it vibrates all the time at 75, or it bounces excessively on choppy roads at 75? 75 is a common speed for vibration from wheel imbalance. If your vibration is there on asphalt, that sounds like a very different problem than the more classic Tundra bed bounce on choppy surfaces like southern California's freeways.

The vibration occurs on concrete freeways only. It actually rides good on asphalt. Setting #4 on the shocks didn't change much. I am going to move it up to #6.
After installing my mini pack last week, I finally got to drive the bad sections on I-52 here in San Diego.
Although city street driving and my backroads commute to work are improved, the experience was actually WORSE on the interstate than before the springs were installed.
I have Ranchos on the rear, set to the softest number (0), which may be my problem. I guess I have to find a setting on the shocks that is a happy medium between city driving and highway driving.
i've never had bed bounce of any kind, not sure if the weight of the camper shell alleviates this, but i didn't notice anything with the topper off either...i have driven all the way across the country and back...with no bounce...i ordered a set anyway to soften the ride and for the extra inch of lift, but i think i am not going to install them and i am going to return them...i just bought a new travel trailer and do not want to lose the payload...

After seeing the pics of the mini-pack posted by e22mmit I decided to order the SS7 supersprings. I am hoping they extend outward more and I have a feeling the problem lies more in the top (longer) leafs. I was thinking about having a pair of springs made, but I just don't know how far and how much time and $$$ I want to go with this. I'll try them with the Bilsteins and the Ranchos and, I think their are two different pre-loads on the SS's. Again, I don't have the bed bounce at highway speeds, probably because on the east coast we have POLICE with RADAR and besides, I don't drive 100 MPH on the highway. But I'll post results on the bed aftershock jiggle thing once the springs are in.

Actually, at that speed, you would not have any bounce.
Fast or Slow = GOOD
Normal Highway Speed = BAD

Supersprings have 4 settings from soft to hard...but they are actual overload springs, I don't see how they are going to help the complaint.
I have them (SSA7's) and they serve a purpose, to carry extra weight without sagging, but when unloaded the back end is a bit stiffer.
I guess I am confused on how you think they are going to help.
I don't have this excessive bounce thing and never have.

I also have not experienced the bounce.
I have a DC TRD with a shell on the rear.
I did have a short test drive in a DC without the TRD.
I felt some bouncing motion.
I'll get my first road trip at the end of the month!
