I would do both. The mini pack will take a LOT of the "aftershock" out of your truck, but not all of it. If you can sfford both, I would.
Exactly, I have the minipack and I just picked up a pair of Sway-A-Way 2.25 rear shocks from Greg. The ride is way better now, and the cool thing about these shocks is that they can be valved super soft for a smooth on road ride, or valved stiffer for offroad abuse. Here's a pic of the SAW 2.25's ( not mine though)
is the SAW 2.25 a shock replacement? or is it used in conjunction with the exisitng shocks? How do they compare to the ranchos ive seen referenced in the thread?
Does anyone have Greg's email address off the top. I believe I saw somewhere in this thread but I'm feeling lazy this Sunday, thought I would just ask.

Yeah they're a replacement shock. They're more of a performance shock that can be custom valved to your liking.
For those that have the minipack and TRD rear sway bar installed. Have you tried removing the sway bar to see how the ride is with just the minipack installed? I have a 4x4 Crewmax on order with the sway bar and was wondering if the ride quality is better with just the minipack or if the sway bar helps as well? If there is no impact on having the sway bar installed I might as well cancel the sway bar order and just get the minipack. Any opinions on whether to get one or the other of even both, as well as any other items that would help with the ride quality and help me save some money would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have a 2007 DC 4X4 TRD with the sway bar and the spring pack. When I installed the sway bar it made a big difference in handling....less pitch and sway. Since then I have installed the spring pack and I notice very little difference at all. I still have the boing sometimes when i go over a bump. And I still have bed bounce when I find a bad stretch of highway. But I haven't tried removing the sway bar. For me the sway bar provides the most benefit. My last truck was 02 F150 with the 7700 pkg (Light duty 3/4 ton). It had a fairly stiff ride and did not pitch and sway like a regular F150. That's the ride I prefer, so the sway bar stays. I may be the only one to say so, but FWIW the spring pack has not made much difference for me.
I have had the spring pack for a few weeks now and have since reinstalled my Shurtrax. The ride was better but I still had the boing and shake. With the shurtrax the boing effect is nearly gone and the ride is quite nice. Now the truck really rides like a truck with beating the cr*p out of me or my family on the freeway. I am pleased with the ride now and my wife doesn't complain about her chest bouncing around any more which was only a problem for her (HEHEHE). Over all the bed doen't dance around as much, the frame resonation is not so harsh and with less water in my shurtrax my MPG's are up.

It looks like there are two solutions - the shocks and the leaf pack. My goal is for my truck to ride like i have 200lbs (5 bags of topsoil in my case) in the back, should i start with the shocks or the mini-pack?
What I dislike most about the ride is the oscillation you get after you hit a bump...it just jiggles the heck out of you...If I can minimize that I'd be a happy man!
I tried the 50lb bags of sand in the back of my truck...didn't help!
I have the Rancho adj. shocks in the back and tried all different settings...didn't help!
I IMO, don't think removing the big helper spring & installing the Deaver mini-spring packs will resolve the problem either. But will help a little.
I truly think the after bounce is in the single 'C' channel where the double 'C' meets the single 'C' channel.

You are right that the mini-spring helps, but doesn't resolve bed bounce or "boing". It does however give the truck a MUCH nicer ride. You don't get the sharp jolt when you hit a nasty spot in the road.

Has anyone since removed the minipak? I've had mine on since the inception of this thread basically and I've noticed hardly any improvement in the boing effect when going over rough roads and expansion joints, etc. I don't really like the extra height in the back either.. I was going to get a front spacer (leveling kit) but was thinking about just removing the min-pak and putting the rear overload springs back on which would lower the back to stock.
You know how it is though. you forget how things were and I'm wondering if I switch back to stock will I really notice the difference then.. So, just wondering if anyone has since put theirs back to stock and if they hated it..
