You got me curious to throw my mini-pak back on.. I took it off a long time ago because I felt all it did was jack the rear end of my truck up an 1.5in and did nothing to improve the ride..
Now I'm 2nd guessing myself wondering if maybe my expectations were too high and I really wasn't being fair in my evaluation of it..
Nice weekend coming up. Might throw it on.. I also didn't have my Rancho adj shocks on the rear either when I had the mini-pak.
Do you know what product I could use to level out the front if I add the Mini-pak back on? There are several choices it seems and I'm at a loss as to what I would need to level the truck that's stock suspension except for the Minipak.
THanks!
Let us know the results! I'm looking at going to the very same combo...

The results.. I have my Rancho's adjusted as soft as they will go and my PRG Minipak reinstalled. Rolls like a Caddy until you hit any major potholes, speedbumps or train tracks.. Then you get that aftershock but not as sharp as you used to be.
I highly recommend the Rancho's though!. No matter what you get. they made the biggest difference!

What kind of difference does it make on the freeway? What effect do you think adjusting the shocks to a stiffer setting would have on the ride on the freeway?

Thanks for the quick response!
If you travel CA Highways. I have a bridge that I cross that has a similar ride.. Before I had to lean forward to get my back off the seat because it was so jarring. Now its hardly noticeable.
I experimented though with shock setting.. The stiffer the shock the smoother the pavement felt but if you hit a good bump. It was a shot to the kidneys.. Seriously! On the softer setting the truck has a little more float feel to it that some may not like.. Little imperfections in the road seem to make their way into the suspension because the shock not being set so firm so you get a little bed jiggle but it's very minor and the lesser of two evils if you ask me..

Just installed Deaver mini-spring packs on my crewmax from PRG products, and now it rides soooo much smoother! It's like a night and day difference! I also gained 1 inch in height over stock.
With the stock overload leaves, the ride was choppy, bouncy, and teeth-rattling over anything besides glass smooth pavement. Now, the truck absorbs all of the uneven pavement and rides firmly without bouncing around all over the place. It feels planted and no wheel hop at all.
I am so happy with the results! This is the way the Tundra should have come from the factory. For those who are unhappy with ride comfort, these are an absolute MUST!
Thats sounds like how mine rides now from the factory. I'm glad it fixed your problem though.
I love the mini-pack/sway bar combo. Truck rides nice and handles great. Especially on my nasty chopped up back roads. Rides GREAT on the open road also.

Here is what I am reading from all the members on this thread. The Deaver minipak seems to be a possible fix or cure for some of the bed bounce that we all seem to encountering from our Tundra truck. I am in the process of installing ICON coilovers & Total Chaos UCA's and Diff Drop brackets on the front of my 08 Tundra Crewmax. Then I was going to install Total Chaos lift shackles on the rear which will give me 3/4" inch of increased lift, but this sounds like I could still have a somewhat stiffer or bouncier ride. I am leaning toward the Deaver minipak which I am assuming will soften up the ride and give me 1" inch of rear lift. I want to do this right the first time so any input would be helpful.

If you are unhappy with the current rear ride, I would definitely do the PRG (Deaver) mini-pak instead of shackles in the rear. Do a before and after; expect about an inch of lift and noticably better ride.

Front Susp: Stock coilovers, 4" lift (http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forum...6-4-inch-lift/), swapped extra spacers for Bilstein 5100s on lowest setting, wheel well height still 41.5." Rear Susp: ProComp ES3000 #326510 (2.25" taller than stock), 1.25" blocks plus PRG mini-pack (http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forum...and-new-truck/) gives 2.25" total lift, parking brake cable bracket spacers, wheel well height 43." Front diff and rear ds drop; trailer hitch electrical harness tucked up above bumper. After 20K miles swapped 305/65/18 BFG AT for 285/75/18 Toyo AT, still on stock 18x8x60 offset TRD wheels, about 1/8" clearance to sway bar. Like the extra height but miss the width. Next time either 305/70/, 295/70, or 35x12.50/18. Added 5th 285/75/18 Toyo AT as spare. Bed Bounce: Stiffer E-tires are worse than stock P-metric; biggest improvement from PRG mini-pack, slight improvement from shocks. Still a stiff ride but tolerable now. Best things about this truck: 5.7 and transmission, interior size and comfort, very quiet at high speed. Worst things about this truck: bed bounce, no VSC in 4wd, mileage sucks above 70.

I don't know if this has been covered (there are a ton of messages in this thread), but has anyone else noticed that the same sections of road that give them problems in the Tundra are a rough ride in some of their other vehicles?
I've noticed it on both of my motorcycles. Don't usually do a lot of freeway, but on the way back from a long ride on yesterday it felt like my kidneys were going to fall out.

Ya, what he said.

It's not that I am unhappy with the ride. It's that I am getting ready to install Icon coilovers and Total Chaos front UCA's. and was debating on weither to install lift shackles (3/4" of lift) or Deaver minipaks (1" of lift. Difference is going to be a 1/4 " I will call Greg at PRG tomorow and ask him. Seems he has the most knowledge about this subject.
Now that I've wasted a few good hours of my life reading every single post on this thread I feel like a zombie. Nevertheless, I believe I'm going to have to invest in the springs because my wife is pregnant with twins and refuses to drive/ride in my truck and says that there is no way in hell that we will be taking newborns anywhere in the truck for fear of brain damage. I personally have gotten used to the punishment and have been away from the TS site for a while but I'm glad I found this thread.
The one thing I didn't see on any responses is if anybody has a 6" procomp lift on their truck? I have this on my 07 Crewmax 4x4 and hope that I will get the same results. I need to figure something out stat because my other vehicle is a BMW convertible and with baby seats in the back you have to munch on the steering wheel....I do not want to have this as the kid-mobile.
Thanks to all for the input....hopefully I can get these things installed in the next few weeks and I'll post results...
