TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2007 and later Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "Full use of the Tundra", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
No other truck could have provide head rest and 3 point safety belt for every occupant than the Tundra with the bench seat. At least at the time of buying it last april 07. So happy with it so far. We'll see how the trans will behave in this trip.

Post just to know situations where you have used your Tundra at its most. Combination of space, rack, weight trailering and cargo..
For my situation, in 1 month, I'll be travelling 15000 miles with 6 persons in the truck, hauling 1400 lbs of cargo in the bed and pulling 7300 lb travel trailer.
Howz that sound?
The cargo capacity will be exceeded with the addition the tongue weight...My 04 Tacoma cargo capacity was exceeded with the same amount without any problem, so I guess it will be the same with the Tundra
Pics to come...
Only two additions to your truck I would advise:
1: LT tires (example BFG AT KO's).
2: helper springs or air bags.
Some "weight police" will talk to you about engine, transmission failures; I don't believe it. They'll talk about axle, frame, ditto. Wheel bearings? I dunno, maybe they'll wear out eventually but they're not that expensive to replace, and you have a TRUCK.
Mr. Sequoia, I agree with you about the hauling power of a 3/4 ton, I drove a 2500 v-10 Ram for 7 years but it turned out to be a piece of crap because of stuff breaking on it all the time. Plus, it drove like a pig, it drank gas like I'm an Arab with my own oilwell, and it didn't handle offroad any better than my Tundra despite the solid front axle, huge differentials, non-slip, great big factory lift and all the rest.
Happy travels mheppell!

Since then I've had bed loads of sandbags, and cinder blocks. I've squatted the bed of my truck so many times I can't count. I used the truck to pull a 24' trailer 8900lbs in Hawaii full of chemical response gear weekly (yes I'm military). Just last weekend I put 3200lbs of lumber in the bed of my TUNDRA and drove it home from Lowes 14mi. The guys loading my truck told me that I couldn't leave because of safety concerns. The fact remains, TOYOTA will tell you what they think the load capacity of their trucks are. The truth is, every third world country uses TOYOTA's for a reason. You can push them past what the manufacturer says by 50%, don't believe me, go to Afghanistan, Iraq, Saudi, South Africa, Austrailia, and just about every piss ant asian country, and look at what the locals drive, with hundreds of thousands of miles on them. TOYOTA. TOYOTA, TOYOTA.

I max out my cupholders all the time! I even fit two of those small cans of Redbull in one of those massive cupholders up in the center console one time!
