TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2007 and later Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "Install question for the Truxxx guys", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I just installed the truxxx lift - picture will come later. First off..the install was easier than expected. A buddy will help tremendously. BUT, I have some questions for you truxxx guys.
What are the torque settings for the U-bolts on the rear? When I took the stock ones off, they weren't very tight. I was going to try to just thread the legs of the new U-bolts equally after putting the spacer on, but that didn't work very well, some much looser than others. So, I decided to torque them equally. One side is threaded more than the other. Does anyone know what the torque setting should be? Did anyone else experience this?
Also...I haven't got an alignment yet, so I have not put the new wheels and tires on. BUT the driver side front is sitting about 3/4" lower than the passenger side (measures from ground to fender). I think it is 38.75" on the driver side and 39.5" on the passenger side. It's hard to see just looking at it, but you can tell easily that the driver side has noticably more positive camber than the passenger side. I've double checked everything and it all looks good. I drove it down the road and it all seems fine. Do you think it is just a matter of getting an alignment.....or something I may have done wrong or should check?

alot of people have noticed their driver side(front and back) sits lower than the passenger side. mine sits about 1/4" lower on the driver side. i even measured it before i put on my lift and it was lower then too. bugs the crap out of me.
I put a Top Gunz lift on mine. My truck sits 5/8" lower on the front drivers side compared to the passengers side, and 1/2" lower on the drivers side rear compared to the passenger side rear, both before and after the lift.
Well...this is making me feel a little better. I didn't think about measuring both sides before, but I know I gained 3" on the front drivers side. Anyone know about the rear suspension torque settings???

Probably won't help much lol but I think I remember when they installed my Toytec blocks in the back it was either 35 or 80ft/lbs lol...I forget.

Oh I have a question for you...When you were installing the front strut extensions and re-connecting them back into place on the truck did it look like there would be space above the 3" Truxxx to maybe fit another spacer stacked on top of the Truxxx spacer? Also how thick is the actual Truxxx spacer? 3"?

If you tried to add another spacer on top of the Truxxx spacer, you would have two problems.
1) As you extend the length of the strut, it forces the bottom of the strut down and outward away from the vehicle due to the angle of the upper mounting point. I think you would have to have some more offset on the spacer to change the angle so that you could get the bolt through the lower control arm without binding the the strut.
2) I don't know how you would get the lower control mounted to the spindle. That was hard enough with the Truxxx spacer.
The Truxxx spacer is only about an 1 3/4" from the best I can measure. It is already installed. The 3 inches of lift is due to the mounting location on the control arm forcing the wheel downward...like a pivot point or fulcrum. Not a great explanation, but I hope that makes sense.

Hmmm.....which is it? What do the U bolts look like on yours? Do the nuts look threaded up evenly or are some threaded up more than others? It just doesn't look quite right. Rides fine though...........

I had the truxxx lift put on my 2WD CM about 3 weeks ago and now have a "clunk" problem. I am out of town so cant take it back to the shop that did the job. I have done a search and didnt find anyone with a 07 of newer haveing this problem. Only does it when I change direction of the truck (forward or backward). Go forward and hit the brake CLUNK, Back up and hit the brakes CLUNK. ????? Any advice would be appreciated.
It is probably axle rotation on the rear due to the block. The combination of high torque, weak springs, and the block mean that the rear axle will rotate more when you accelerate or decelerate. That clunk is probably your drive shaft slipping in and out as it as the rear axle pivots.
