I own two 2007 Tundra’s, both Double Cabs with 4-wheel drive.

The only significant difference in how they are equipped is the engine trany combination, 4.7L, 5-speed and 5.7L, 6-speed. (One has mud flaps and is Salsa Red Pearle; the other has rubber all weather floor mats and under rear seat storage and is Black.)

Both where purchased at the same time, in one deal, back in August 07.

The price difference between the two of them was substantial.

I paid $4,219 less for the 4.7L then I did for the 5.7L Tundra, equally equipped.

The 4.7 gets better gas mileage then the 5.7 in my experiences.

Being I am, for the most part the only driver, this might be of significant.

The 4.7L has 11,000 miles on it and the 5.7L had 8,800 miles on it.

The 4.7L averages 2.1 MPG MORE then the 5.7L. (With the same driver).

My MPG figures are by actual calculations each time I purchase gas, not by the dash computer.

The 5.7L has insane amounts of power, but I do not feel the 4.7L is underpowered at all; only in comparison to the 5.7L does this become noticeable.

Anyone else have one of each, who can share his or her experiences? I think I remember someone else on this forum with two Tundra’s, but I don’t know how they are equipped.

Have a great night folks,

Frank

The value at trade in is all conjecture at this point. We will know for sure in a few years when a dealer tells you that he doesn't even want your truck.

The "$3k" price difference is meaningless to me. I needed 10K towing capacity and wanted a Limited. The 5.7L engine came standard. In any event I paid $1k under invoice plus 0% financing. I would have received the same deal on any truck on the lot, including a truck with a 4.7 engine. The rebate/financing was the same

For the people who don't like these threads, just don't read the,

As some one else said, love the one your with, I see nothing wrong with both sides speaking about, everyone has a reason to buy what they buy, without making any excuses, it is interesting to hear what though process was involved at the truck purchase, we still are in the family anyways.

Frank (daless2) is probably the best one to listen to in this discussion since he has both a 4.7 and a 5.7. They both have their pros and cons.

BTW: having a timing belt is not "poor design" there are many advantages to using a belt over chains. One that seems to be overlooked is that belts rob the engine of less power.

My question is, why do you have 2 Tundras?

When I bpught my 5.7 RCSB, they did not hardly have a 4.7 on the lot in the RC and were wheeling and dealing on the 5.7. It seems folks in South Texas didn't believe that you could get the same or better milage with a bigger engine. I was hesitant at first, but the price was right....best thing I ever did!!!! Love my 5.7!!!!
