TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2007 and later Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "Fog lights as an option for 2008 Tundra SR5", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
Hey, what gives with Toyota. They only offer fog lights as a part of a TRD sport package in 2007, but make it a option for $291.00 for 2008 Tundra SR5's. What kind of an insulting move is this to their loyal Tundra owners. That price is about half of what it would cost us 2007 owners to have one installed at he dealers. They should have some kind of a retrofit program for those of us who got ripped by this. Just venting, but this really pisses me off.

The price is 110.00 not 291.00 I guess because every one was complaining about not having fogs. One sales man gave me bs talking about because people won't TRD stuff but don't won't to pay TRD price and some other BS. That is why I'm glad I did not get mine in 2007
I got a tundra grade which doesn't even come with the wiring harness so even though the sales guy claimed I could get any accessories at cost for 90 days after the purchase I called to get a quote for lamps and harness and they told my roughly $450 for the lights and then another $200 for the wires so after tax we are looking at like $720! (They claimed when he said at cost he actually meant at internal cost....total BS!!) Needless to say I was really pissed. I guess I'm going to have to find some other way to fill up those cup holder holes in the front of my bumper. Anyone happy with the after market fogs they bought?

Wow. What a rip off. I'm sure you can find some better after market fogs for a much better price. Let me know what you end up doing. I also wanna fill those holes as well.

I too got a 2008 Tundra Grade DC. I did alot of research about this. Our trucks did not even come with any of the wire harness needed to put in the foglights. Anyways, I got pretty good news for you. I found a guy who sells an aftermarket kit from DEPO Automotive Lighting. This kit has EVERYTHING needed to add OEM foglights on the Tundra Grade with the exception of the black foglamp cups that have to be ordered from Toyota. All total I spent $235.00 and I now have added factory style foglights. They mount in the OEM foglamp cups, includes all wiring, relays, and switch. If anyone is interested PM me and I will get you additional info.

I don't know where you got $110.00 cause I got $291.00 by looking at the options screen on the Toyota website where it says Build your Tundra.
If you want to install OEM fog lights on your own, MHADDEN has a great DIY with photos. I refer to his posts for most of my mods. He even lists part numbers. I just wish that this fog light option that is being offered on the 2008 Tundras were available as an option on the 2007 Tundras. When I bought my 07 Crewmax SR5 back in June of 2007, the fog lights came as standard equipment on Limited or as a package on the TRD's only. I did not want a Limited or a TRD off road package. The SR5's did'nt even have it as an option. (to the best of my knowledge) I think that Toyota should acknowledge those of us who bought the 2007 Tundras without the fogs, and offer to install them at the same price as a 2008 option.
