TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2007 and later Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "OME Suspension System Report", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I just installed a complete Old Man Emu Suspension System including 2.5 Inch lift front coils and shocks and OME Dakar 2.5 inch leaf springs W/OME shocks. I also installed a 1 inch diff drop kit. My Tundra is a 2007 Crewmax Limited 4x4 without the TRD package and factory 20 inch wheels.
Note: This OME kit is not a leveling kit, it lifts the rear the same amount as the front. I got the stock weight front rather than the H.D. one, I don't plan on adding any winches or heavy bumpers to the front.
Installation-About 4 hours with help from my son who is an expert mechanic. Fairly simple installation, only special tools needed is a strut compressor. We used air wrenches to speed things up
Initial Impression-Overall high quality looking system. OME coils are smaller diameter and longer than stock, everything fit the way they are supposed to.
Actual Lift-The kit lifted the front and rear both almost exactly 2.5 inches as advertised, has not sagged any since installation (600 miles)
Street Ride and Handling-The front seems a bit better riding than stock, seems to go around corners flatter. The rear feels softer. Did not affect bed-bounce, I still have it!
Off Road-Front rides a little rougher on rough dirt roads than stock, much rougher over washboards. The rear is softer riding than stock over all bumps.
On medium rough, slow going trail (New River Canyon north of Phoenix) ride is better controlled with less tossing back and forth when crawling over obstacles. The traction control worked quite well, almost as good as my fully locked up FJ60 Cruiser.
Overall, I am impressed and happy with the system, the ride is near factory smooth, and seems to work quite well while 4-wheeling. I have BFG Mud-Terrains KM2 in 305x55x20 on order, I will report back on how the system handles heavier and larger tires.

What was the final cost? Got pics of the front shocks?
If I do any susoension work, I am thinking that OME is the way to go. A bunch of friends have run OME stuff on their FJ40's and have had great success.
Here is the photo of the front coil and shock....there are higher resolution photos in my gallery. I cannot reveal cost because my wife checks this forum regularly.
