This is a discussion thread titled "New Stebel 300 Hz Truck Horn", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
Just wanted to make a correction... a 3dB increase = approximately double the volume (1.99526 to be exact), not 10. So, in fact you already are getting double the volume since your increase was from 114 to 117 dBs...
it is best to not try and correct someone unless you are 100% sure you are correct decibels are logarithmic, so a 10 dB increase = twice the volume. but what do i know, i've only competed in stereo competitions since i was 16 (11 years now) and was an IASCA judge for several years as well

Many get this confused, and most manufacturers use that confusion to sell products.
that is correct. a 3 dB increase could require the same power with double the drivers (in reference to speakers). speaking from a subwoofer perspective, if you where to double the number of subs and doubled the power supply (second amp, or an amp that is twice as powerful), it equates to about a 6 dB increase. however, those are only generalizations. the higher you go, the harder it is to increase the loudness/dB's, since it is not perfectly linear.

hopefully tomorrow i'll install both stock horns with the pair of stebels. i'll take some pics and video clips. i'll just be tapping into the stock wiring to power the stock horns, since the relay activation require such a small amount of current it won't effect anything.

JUST HOOKED UP MY SECOND STOCK HORN. OMG!!! WITH BOTH STOCK AND THE STEBEL IT IS FREAKIN LOUDER THAN WITH JUST THE ONE STOCK!!! I TOOK IT FOR A TEST OUT ON THE STREETS AND WHEN I WAS GOING THROUGH THE OVER PASS I BLEW THE HORN AND MAN DID IT SOUND JUST LIKE THAT HORNBLASTER TRAIN HORN!!! IT ECHOED REAL NICE THIS WAS A REALLY THE MOST FUN MOD I DID WITH MY 07 TUNDRA!
now i am really eager to go hook up the stock horns again, but its too late oh well, tomorrow i'll have them hooked up
