yeah i was thinking the same thing about my trap speed not improving. what nannies are you supposed to turn off exaclty on an 08. Ive been just pushing the tow/haul button and holding now the vsc off switch for a couple seconds. Is this what i need to be doing? What buttons exactly need to be pressed and for how long?

Maybe the time lengths of press / release you are using are too long or short. Let me find the Sparks TRD guys post, as he tells exactly which lamps are supposed to come on for each step.
Instructions for enabling the VSC Off Mode are outlined below for '07 Model Year Tundras and '08 Model Year Tundras and Sequoias.
07MY -
1) Make sure vehicle is completely stopped.
2) Press and hold the VSC switch for 3 seconds. Vehicle enters VSC Off Mode. Auto LSD light goes out, VSC Off and Vehicle skid icon stay on).
08MY -
1) Make sure vehicle is completely stopped.
2) Press and Hold the VSC switch for more than 3 seconds. Vehicle enters Auto LSD Mode (Auto LSD light comes on)
3) Press and hold the VSC switch again for 3 seconds. Vehicle enters VSC Off Mode. Auto LSD light goes out, VSC Off and Vehicle skid icon stay on).
To return to Normal Mode, press VSC switch briefly from any mode.

I think your traction is the problem with your times going DOWN with the chip. I'll bet you are spinning your tires more with the chip and that's why ET and MPH is lower. 4X4 would prove that, but I guess that's not an option for you. Most guys seem to be getting better times at the track in 4X4 because of the better traction. If you are feeling more snap and more tire burn, than the chip is,in fact, adding to your truck's performance. You will see it more on the highway than you will on the track. The only way to get better times in 2wd is to work on your traction - slicks maybe.

Very possible. I just tried a couple passes for the first time and the truck literally fries the rear tires off the line. No amount of tire cleaning or throttle feathering could fix this. It wasn't until I used 4HI that I could launch with full throttle.

Yeah, i had bad traction all night, in fact my last run was against my buddies titan. and he beat me by 1/2 a length, but i was pulling on him, just ran out of road. I spun, he didnt, and i was playing catch up the rest of the way.
But for all the guys talking down on unichip, despite my lower times, I would do it again, the power added on the road and on the freeway is awesome. I just to to figure out the best way to launch, and i know i can break into the 8's. The power is more than there.

You spun and your buddy didn't, because you have a faster more powerful truck. I don't think anyone is really talking down the Unichip. There's just some confussion as to the numbers we're seeing. I'd really like to see a 4X4 running the track with the chip. I'm sure that's where we will see the benefits of the chip. That's where I feel you will see the ETs drop and the MPH raise.

im sure in the 1/4 mile the 2wd would be faster than a 4wd right? 1/8 mile is so short after having ran a 1/4 a month ago, and i could see the benefit of a 4wd. But in general the 2wd is faster because it's lighter right? or am I wrong?

You are correct. Even on a 4x4 switching between 2WD and 4WD you will typically see a slowing of about 2 tenths in 4WD because of the added frictional losses when the transfer case and other guts are switched on. Add to that a true 2WD RCSB will weigh 100-200 lbs less. All of this assumes the 2WD can get traction off the line though.
