In a perfect world, the 2wd will beat the 4wd. A perfect world includes suspension mods, lighter wheels and raceing slicks. The problem is, in the real world the 2wd is gonna sit there with the tires spinning while the 4X4 is buggying down the track. Most guys that run their trucks in 4x4 are not switching back to 2wd on their way down the track, they are leaving them in 4X4. In the real world, 4X4 should beat 2wd because traction.

Just throwing this out there for thought for your launching at the track. When all of the nannies are off, I have heard that when normal "D" is selected that we only have four gears. I believe there is another post somewhere on this. I am pretty sure you have to put the truck into the sport mode (I know it isn't really a sport mode) to have all six gears available. Any thoughts?
You mean you don't think it would upshift to fifth or sixth while drag racing (i.e. at full throttle) with the nannies switched off?
I had mine switched off and had no issue with running out of gears, but then again I never knew which gear it was running through the traps in. I will have to keep an eye on this.
Yes. Check out this thread on another forum. You have to weed through some of the posts. The OP on that thread indicates that he spoke to Toyota and there was some sort of software issue on our ECU
Damn... we're actually closer than you think. i meant la puente rd., not amar.
yeah, i saw your truck a couple months back on caballo and la puente rd. i just live up the street from that intersection.
Yeah im off caballo, calle redonda actually, what street do u live off of.
Oh yeah, this was my second worst run of the night, the run i lost to my buddys titan. Of course he had to put it on the internet. Big bragging rights for titans taking down a RCSB.
Every time I step into my truck I turn off all the nannies and for the most part it shifts through all six gears. On occasion it does gets hung in fourth which only seems to happen if I'm on an incline.

Don't worry dude, whether it is your first time altogether to a track, or your first time with a certain setup, you are going to pooch the first few passes until you get things straight. That Nissan will fall back into its traditional position soon enough.

On my last trip to the track, I got 15 runs in within 2 hours and I learned a few things....
1st. having the AC on will add just over 1/10 of a sec. to your time(i forgot to turn it off a couple of time....lol)
2nd. my truck shifted into 4th about 30-40 ft from the end....everytime....
And 3rd.....no matter what I can not beat a Bentley , corvette, or a viper....LOL
seriously though is we had a chip that would change the shift firmness and raise the limiter a couple hundred rpms i think we'd be in 3rd gear crossing the line and shave off a couple of tenths

Don't worry, for what they paid, they should be able to beat you in reverse. A tundra doesn't need $10000 repairs after running over a 2" pothole either.
Yea pretty much every time I have ran my truck I have traction issues. Most od the time I have to feather it off the line. One out of three I will get a good launch and run 14.1. Some slicks would be interesting on a rcsb. I have looked into but cant find one that is tall enough.
