TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2007 and later Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "Insulation under hood..?", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
Who has an insulated hood? Does the tundra even offer insulation under the hood? I noticed mine didn't and was kinda disappointed. Everyone go check and let me know! Thanks!
mine does not. Not sure it really needs it as I thought the insulated hood was for reducing engine sound to the cabin. My Cummins Ram had it, but my Hemi Ram did not. Diesel are way louder so it makes sense. None of my other Toyota pickups ever had insulation, but my 86 FJ60 did.
My chevy 1500 has it. I thought of it as heat protection for the paint on the hood. I worked in a body shop as a kid and forgot to install the insulation on a car one time and it cooked/cracked the paint, hardly noticeable but my boss was pissed. I just want to make sure it wasn't a corner that was cut. Thanks!!
