WHATS MUCH MORE IMPORTANT !
is the fact the "STOCK AIRBOX" is good enough for the S/C.
For those still pursueing future CAI kits take note of this.
Save your money, that ole stocker is GOOD ENOUGH !
(thats $300-400.00 that can be spent for something useful)

A couple observations: It looks like the only intakes compatible with the kit are going to be the stocker and the TRD (obviously) which kind of bums me out as I hate the design of the TRD kit. In the pictures at SEMA a few years back the air/water intercooler setup was different and it looked like the stock throttle body would remain in the same place. It also looks like the cooler inline with the airlow is also the throttle body? Its an intercooled throttle body...I wonder how efficient its going to be at removing heat from the intake air vs. impeding airflow.
I'm all excited now...

Left stock, the intake and air filter will obviously be a restriction - especially at high rpm. Notice that the TRD CAI is in place on the Sequoia...That should be proof enough that the stock intake does NOT flow enough air for the S/C kit...
Re: Coming Soon for the Tundra---TRD Supercharged 5.7 Sequoia - Pics inside!!
Hey there! This is my first post so here goes. Just bought a Black / Red Rock 08, CrewMax, Limited w/ TRD Off Road Pkg, with every TRD option we could put on the truck....including a SuperCharger, bought and paid for but will not be installed before June, or so the dealer has estimated. Also the following: TRD Brake Kit, CAI, Sway Bar, TRD Dual exhaust, Skid Plate, Ready Lift, 22" x 9.5" Black XD Hoss 795s w/ 285/45 Yokohama Parada Spec-Xs, hood protector, factory alarm and remote start, Advantage Hard Hat Premier folding tonneau cover, Rhino lined, Built in Passport Radar and Invision Dual headrest DVD System. I hope to add projector lights with true HID dual beam kit and HID fog lights as well. That's it for now. I'll post pics as soon as the dealer is finished with the installs.

What did this all cost you ? Never mind how long did it take to come up with that list of add on's .

Does anybody know if you are still able to keep warranty installing s/c yourself? About str 10 i raced one 6-speed with intake and exhaust he beat me by about 2-3 lengths in about 1/4 mile (we do not have drag track in town) my truck is 08 crew max stock. i hope that helps.

From what I've read you get a 1 year warranty if you install the S/C yourself. The SRT10 is really a drivers truck, meaning it takes a good driver to get the full potential out of it. The truck has the ability, just most drivers don't lol
Re: Coming Soon for the Tundra---TRD Supercharged 5.7 Sequoia - Pics inside!!
08 crew mike what dealership did you order it from?
please give me there #,?
i'd love to know how they took that order before it was released and what they are charging you. i'll order 1. tommorrow.
gorilla,
p.s. since my dealership said they can not even take a order for a supercharger, they don't have the final o.k. yet and the pricing on it yet, so what did they charge you. Pm me the invoise. if you would.
thanks again

Reason: mis spelled
I believe your speculating at best, where does it say you must have the TRD box as part of the S/C kit ?

This is not necessarily true... think of it this way... take two different straws (one from hardy's and one from mcdonalds). Sorry if this sounds stupid but its a good example and applies to SOME applications but shows the point well. Take the mcdonalds stray which is small, by about half... seal your lips around it and in hale. It provides steady somewhat controlled flow with SOME restriction. If you take the larger straw (hardy's for example) and do the same thing, you can't get a steady stream that feels controlled since you are moving less air than the orifice is made for. This can create inefficiency in the intake portion of the system.
As for a real world example, my supercharged 4runner actually dynoed better numbers with the stock airbox and a k/n drop in. Sometimes it also has to do with having the air source separated from the engine compartment that is full of hotter air. I cannot say for sure which one is better, but I would wait for numbers before I went spending 400 on the CAI if I didn't already have it... You'd be surprised...

That's not proving what you think it is. The reason you can't get a constant flow through the larger straw is because you can't create a consistent lower pressure in your lungs. An engine doesn't have that problem.

Van Isle:
Costs: Too much! The last toyota I bought was a '93, 4x4 Xcab that I just sold with only 80K miles. I plan on keeping this one just as long so built it the way I wanted hoping it will be here for many years.
I had no idea how many options were available for this truck...was very pleased how the dealer worked with me on everything...more than fair.
Gorilla:
The dealer info is in the "my Garage" section. Click on that and you've got the info. The price I paid was part of the whole TRD package of extras and "yes" I understand it is in pre-release stage...meaning I may have to pony up more money if Toyota raises it's "estimated" costs. I was happy to agree to that simply to make sure I get it when it is available...I'm not big on waiting and so I parted with the +/- $6K to make sure I didn't have to...maybe not an idea for everyone but it worked for me. My advice is keep checking with your dealer (Al Hendricks?) on availability and I hope we're both driving SC Tundras soon.
Re: Coming Soon for the Tundra---TRD Supercharged 5.7 Sequoia - Pics inside!!
hi i couldn't find your garage. but at least i know it's 6g's. so i'm due for my every 2000mile oil chage, i know i'm nuts for a change every 2000miles, but i always have done this.
so i will go in and ask to pre buy, so when it's realesed i'll have 1 of the 1st 1's out of my dealership , i want a 2009, if they have worked out all the issue's and defects. dash, cam shaft , tail gate, etc. no offense guy's. and i'm most likely keeping my modified 05.
i want this 1 as a weekend play toy. hopefully they will have new colors for 09 to.
i'll let you know how it goes, & what they say. all i want in this 1 is S/C and a/c and stick shift, so i can disable the speed and rev limitor easyer. it's the auto that has the problem's of disabling the speed and rev limitor. or so i hear.
120, 140, 160 he's gone! LOL

One thing I don't much care for is the half-a55ed "intercooler" setup. There is no way running the air past a 2 inch wide cooling jacket/fins can reduce its temperature by any significant amount. Time and cooling surface contact are always an important factor in any cooling process. The air simply doesn't have enough time or surface contact in that jacket to reduce in temperature in a 2" gap. If you guys believe that then I have a little gas saving device you might be interested in called an Engine Tornado.

It's a supercharger, not a turbocharger. Lots of applications don't even run intercoolers with superchargers because they don't heat the air too much at low boost levels (ie 5-6psi).

My point is that Toyota will charge you for an real intercooler and give you this so-called "intercooler" instead. It could affect the sell price by $1000 or more and I'm willing to bet they will not sell them as individual parts.
