They do not suggest a CAI with the supercharger, but they put one on this FJ and gained 22 horsepower AT THE WHEELS,(I think he said wheels, they have a chassis dyno there,90% sure it was wheels) this info is from someone that was there(can't say who). Now figure that on a V8 and not a V6.
TRD doesn't suggest CAI kits with the superchargers because of emission reasons, but in states that have less "stringent" checking then who knows......

I think he means all of those mods AND the supercharger. If the original poster said TRD engine dynoed the S/C and it made an additional 123 HP to total 504 HP at the crank. With 20 percent drivetrain loss that's 400+ HP at the wheels. An 80-100 HP increase. Add intake, headers, exhaust, and a possible tune or pulley change and you could be looking at 120 -150 HP increase at the wheels vs. 80-100 HP with just he S/C. Those additional mods will make significantly more HP boosted than they would N/A.
Re: Coming Soon for the Tundra---TRD Supercharged 5.7 Sequoia - Pics inside!!
By adding headers and a free flowing xhaust you will actually decrease the psi output of the supercharger (more efficient) and increase power. Then you add an smaller pulley on the S/C a and that should bypass any psi nannies that Toyota has built in to the ECU.
Re: Coming Soon for the Tundra---TRD Supercharged 5.7 Sequoia - Pics inside!!
I'll match that !
150 on paper is generally right @ 80 net.
This was noted over a year ago here on TS when the news first broke.
Ive pilled up 150 shots many a year and the best I ever "tweaked to" was 82 RWHP
FWIW the parasitic drive train loss on these 2 piece drive-line Tundra's is nearly or better then 28%
Personally $6k for 80 rwhp is $75. a pony to freaking much.Bolt them huffers on and roll out of the shop and their net worth just dropped to just over $2K on resale value.

hi ,i have a cai, lets say 5hp
headers, lets say 15hp
cat back 9hp
& the unichip 26
and
yes, if i was to add mine up.
i got 55Hp.
rear wheel 35.
dyno'ed and proven & posted.
i only wished i did a before and after as i added each mod. but at 100 for each hour on
a dyno, to prove to people ,you are getting what HP for what item.
is insane.

My truck is already worth much less than blue book in my part of the country. Installing a TRD SC on a Tundra will not void the factory warranty and will therefor not do anything to resale, if anything it will only help. Once the truck is out of warranty... well that's a whole different story.

I think what negra may have intended to say is that the net worth of the sc kit went from $5000+ dollars to $2000 once installed. You wont be able to up the resale value of your truck to include the full value of the super charger, thus you are out over half of the $ spent on it. I agree.

Thanks. Also, has TRD done real world durability testing on the supercharged 5.7 on the Sequoia like for example towing at its max towing capacity for hundreds or thousands of miles on flat and hilly roads?

I do base my opinion on years of experience with Ford motors, both 302/351 and Mod motors.
While those motors NEEDED a lot of aftermarket to awaken them, the Toy 5.7 is a pretty efficient design from the get go.
I don't think I need to tell you; but while headers by themselves may add 20HP and cat back exhaust may add 15; together you may see 25HP.
And that 5HP gain with CAI may not even show up after an exhaust swap.
You cannot add all the parts up individually and come up with a figure(ricer math)......there's a lot of overlap.
There's overlap with some mods, sure, I won't argue that, but on a forced induction application my belief and experience has always been that the whole will be greater than the sum of the parts because every part becomes significantly more restrictive when dealing with pressures in excess of 760 torr. (eg. 5hp for one, 10hp for another, but together 20hp). I guess we'll just have to wait and see what numbers people are producing when it gets released.

Like Thundera stated, I may have misunderstood..........the post I commented on implied to ME that he was saying 120HP with just the parts listed.
If he was including the SC with that, it does seem plausable.

Exactly
Dont believe me go to your dealer and have them run the numbers for you based on the $6K price for the blower added to your net worth on trade in value/resale.
If you then cant see SUCKER written at the bottom of the page you need your eyes checked.
Same applies to the other TRD bolt-on's,people are sadly mistaken if they think "Mods" increase their vehicles net worth
