Default Indiana vs Texas...Which one is better?

Hey everyone.

Anyone notice any difference between the Tundras coming from Indiana or from Texas. I had the chance to look at an Indiana made model and I think the build quality is a little better.

Anyone have any comments?

Mine came form Indiana. 13,544 miles. So far (knock on wood) no problems. No bed bounce, no rust, no tailgate bend and passed the recall. The paint is thin and chips easy. My driver side power door lock went out, but fixed under warranty. Hope that helps.

My wife and I have one of each. We haven't noticed a difference between them.

I don't think you're going to see a discernible difference between the two plants but I'm curious....what specifically do you think makes the IN truck better built?

Mine is built in TX, no problems, I dont think you find crucial differences among them.

Mine was built in Indiana, over 9K miles and not a single problem so far. But, I don't think that there would be much difference in which plant is built at. More than likely the parts for both plants all come from the same places.

mine was built in indiana in march 07. almost 21k on odo. tailgate laches broke twice like a month after i purchased it, then the fog lights stoped working after 2 months and the couple months ago power steering presure switch. everything fixed under warranty.
recently i noticed rear bumper started showing some rust.

03/07 Indiana build...

- bed misaligned from factory - body shop fixed it as best they could
- small cracks on corners of tailgate
- rust on bumper - dealer to replace
- all lug nuts have rust - dealer to replace
- front differential was replaced due to vibration/hum
- paint is worn off in a spot under rear doors on both sides of truck
- stock exhaust is droning/vibrating at 1500 rpm - going in this week
- truck starting to shudder mildly under quick acceleration in low gears

Other than that, no other problems, but glad I leased it. Dealer has been great to deal with, but to be truthful, I am starting to wonder about the build/parts quality.

As a brand new Texan (and a brand new Tundra owner - just waiting to complete a few mods before posting photos), I have to vote for the TX Tundra, but only because of the "Born in Texas. Built by Texans" window sticker. Love that thing.

I must say they are built the EXACT same way in Indiana as Texas. The peeps from Indiana are the ones that trained the peep's at the Texas plant. Mine's from TX and it's fine but I'm partial to Indiana They all go through the same quality checks. Just like with EVERYTHING, there's always something that slips by. But Toyota being Toyota, they fix it with no problems.
