Re: DIY: How-To Enable “Anytime” Fog Lights for $15 or Less
Woot! Great post. I will be doing this soon. Now I am sure the forum safety nannies will be chiming in any minute with some great advice on how the fog lights are not replacements for headlights...blah blah blah...

Frank,
What is the process to have the for lights operate with the stock switch, but only when the any of the main lights (driving and/or headlights) are on.
I believe this is what most want...
I also believe with another relay, you tell me, the fog lights will go out when the high beams go on. I believe we here have a law where only 4 front facing lights can be on at a time.
Re: DIY: How-To Enable “Anytime” Fog Lights for $15 or Less
I'm glad someone finally had time to try this mod. I posted something similar a while ago, involved cutting two wires to bypass body ECU control of the relay.
With this mod you must have the parking or headlights on for the fogs to work.
Frank (or anyone else with a multimeter) can you check if terminal 1 (green wire) at the OEM fog relay has voltage with the parking or headlights on? I don't have a 2nd-gen Tundra to test, but I may be right since it's from the taillight relay. If it does, the mod will be even cheaper to do
Re: DIY: How-To Enable “Anytime” Fog Lights for $15 or Less
Great work Frank !! and documentation looks top notch as always.
See all them documents you downloaded has come in very handy now..
Wish i had a chance to get my hands on the electrical diagrams, since I have a neat idea I like to try but just need to do some searching for some connection in the truck but guess I will use the old method one day when I get more time and do it with a meter and pulling things apart

Hi Eddie,
You’re right on both counts!
When the Parking Lights or Headlights are “On”, Pin 1 of the Fog Relay Coil will have +12 volts (or so).
This power comes from the TAIL Relay which switches “On” when the MB-ECU supplies a ground to the Tail Relay Coil. The Tail Relay then sends power to a Junction Box located between connectors A38 and A39.
This Junction Box supplies voltage to the Fog Light Relay Coil as well as the Operating Voltage directly to all the Parking Lights, tail lights and Side Marker Lights.
(Heads up, if you decide you want to play around with the wires at this Junction Box rethink your desire! LOL!! This has got to be the most inaccessible part I have ever seen. Believe me I have tried to get to it.)
Your single jumper wire will indeed work. But as you stated, either the Parking Lights or Headlights must be “On” for the Fog Light to be “On”.
I think this is in effect the way they work from the factory, isn’t it?
There is some New Function, over the Factory Setting that I believe your design would provide, the ability to have the Fog Lights “On” while High Beam Lights are “On”.
Is that the Function you are trying to provide?
Bottom line, your single jumper wire will work, as I see it this way.
q Turn Parking Lights “On”, Turn Fog Switch “On”, Fog Lights Turn “On” (Same as Factory Setting)
q Turn Head lights “On”, turn Fog Switch “On”, Fog Lights Turn “On” (Same as Factory Setting)
q Parking and/or Headlights “Off”, turn Fog Switch “On”, Fog Lights “Off”(Same as Factory Setting)
q Turn High Beam Lights “On”, Turn Fog Switch “On”, Fog Lights Turn “On” (NEW Function!!!)
If anyone is looking only for this New Added Function to operate Fog Lights with High Beam Lights on I would strongly recommend they adopted your single jumper wire design.
It is clean and uncomplicated, and I am certain it would work in this regard.
Re: DIY: How-To Enable “Anytime” Fog Lights for $15 or Less
Frank,my bypass idea was in response to this thread:Fog light mod? He wanted to have the fogs operate with just the parking lights and be able to stay on with the highbeams. With the factory (no modifications) wiring, can the fogs be turned on with just the parking lights?

I need to correct a post I put up last evening. Rather then edit the post, I will quote it above and restate accurately here what I should have said last night.
My apologies. I knew that from the factory, the only way the Fog Lights could be illuminated is by turning the headlights on. I don’t know why my mind included the Parking lights in this ability but I did, and that was incorrect.
Here is how this post should have read, along with my apologies to Eddie and everyone else for my misspeaking last evening.
There are Two New Functions, over the Factory Setting that I believe your design would provide, the ability to have the Fog Lights “On” while High Beam Lights are “On” and the ability to have the Fog Lights “On” when the Parking Lights are “On”.
Bottom line, Eddie’s single wire design will work, as I see it this way.
q Turn Parking Lights “On”, Turn Fog Switch “On”, Fog Lights Turn “On” (NEW Function!!!)
q Turn Head lights “On”, turn Fog Switch “On”, Fog Lights Turn “On” (Same as Factory Setting)
q Parking and/or Headlights “Off”, turn Fog Switch “On”, Fog Lights “Off”(Same as Factory Setting)
q Turn High Beam Lights “On”, Turn Fog Switch “On”, Fog Lights Turn “On” (NEW Function!!!)
Once Again, Eddie’s design requires that you have the Light Switch turned “On” to any one of three positions,
q Parking Lights ON
q Head Lights On
q High Beam Lights On
To enable the Fog Lights to be “On”
If this were the function you are looking for I would strongly recommend they adopted Eddie’s single wire design.
It is clean and uncomplicated, and I am certain it would work. In fact I test installed it today to make sure it would work. I did put my system back, but Eddie’s does indeed work.
Please Note:Eddie’s single wire solution will also work with the Auto On Light System BUT only if the Auto Light System has turned the Lights ON.
If the Auto Light System has the Lights Off (Daylight conditions), the Fog Lights will also be forced Off.
Nice job Eddie!
If I get the time between now and the end of the week I will document the location of the Connector A10 and the second wire your design calls for to be cut. wire location your des
There are only two differences in how the Fog Lights will work between Eddie’s design and my own.
My system is independent of the Light Switch. Basically it doesn’t care if the lights are on or off, the Fog Lights are 100% in your control, from the stalk switch.
Also, mine will allow the Fog Lights to be “On” during the day even if you have the Auto Light Function and your Tundra Lights are Off.
Either design is fairly easy to install and they both work given slightly different functions. Pick which “flavor” you’d like based on how you want to use your Fog Lights.

That would be great if you could post some pictures. Normally I would, but I dropped my camera and it's now in more then one piece, and no longer working.
Enjoy your vacation. I'm headed out on one my myself next week.

Eddie has designed an alternative means of turning on the Tundra Fog Lights.
Being I have the pictures of the connectors involved and their locations I have elected to document Eddie’s design.
Eddie’s single wire solution will enable your Fog Lights to be “On”any time the Tundra Main Light Switch is “On” in any position.
I test installed Eddie’s solution on my Tundra (2007) and can verify it works as designed.
If you are reading this as a part of a forum thread, please double click on the “FogLightsEddieVx.pdf” file located on the very first post of this thread to view and download the most current version of the “How-To” instructions.
In contrast, my original design (File = FogLightsVx.pdf) enables your Fog Lights to be on ANYTIME you want them on, regardless of other lights.
Go for the "flavor" that meets your needs, both work fine.

ok, i must be an idiot, i tried this mod today. i tired to go with the anytime fog light version , well guys, i have to say when it comes to this kind of stuff, i'm not so good. first of all, where does the relay SOCKET go? anyone that did this mod have pics of completed wiring? sorry to bother you guys!
