I think so. I did not have a button to turn them on but it had the icon on the mirro.

Someone refresh my memory: On a SR5 with heated power mirrors, what works when swapping in the two mirrors, and what doesn't?

How do you add the power folding option, or is that even possible?

I can't tell from the pic but it looks like a mirror icon. If so then no I do not. Someone told me that they work when you turn on the defroster. If that is a defroster buttom then yes I have it.

You have it then.
It looks like a defrost button for a rear window with an arrow pointing down, but it is for your mirrors (and wiper area if you have the cold kit).

When you turn on the defrost in the heating system, (round knob all the way to the right), it only controls the function to defrost the front windshield and the little side vents to get the front part of your side windows.

Default Re: Tow Mirror Swap

Finally got around to getting some tow mirrors and installed them thanks to Ponkuk's instructions. EVERYTHING WORKS! YAY!! However it took me ALOT longer then 10 minutes just to do one side. lol. Im no mechanic but you you dont just pull up on the door panel. You have to pull back on it to get all the little tabs out of the hole so you can bend it back enough to have room to get a socket in there to remove the 3 bolts. Once you get the 3 bolts off you have to pull hard enough to think you broke it to get it to pop off the door cause there is another little tab thing in between the 3 bolts that really holds the mirror to the door.

So for any of you that have regular mirrors (mine did not even have defrosters) that want tow mirrors, All you have to do is remove the triangle piece where the tweeter is to see how many wires there are. Mine had around 10 or 11.
I dont know if the defroster works or not though. Guess one way to find out is to turn it on and feel the mirror in a few minutes to see if its hot?
P.S. Anyone want to .....

I swapped out my tow mirrors for the Limited mirrors, within 2 weeks they were flopping around in the wind when I drive over 45mph. Anyone else have that problem? I took it to the dealer, they were unable to fix them, they said that the truck did not come with those mirrors, so, they were not covered under warranty!

that sucks. im swapping mine as we speak....my swappin TS member just called me to let me know mine are shipped and im shipping mine as soon as i walk out the door. anyway, hope mine dont flop around....

oh and for what its worth, i have a 3 wire SR5 with no defrost and thus no turn signal/running light wires but ive found all the information here on TS and another site and am going to wire mine up myself when they come in so i will do a DIY thing here on how to add tehm to non wired trucks.

I just want to change the actual glass inside the mirror housing. Anyone know how to just remove the glass plates??
I don't want to break them, else I'll have to order another set for $2xx.00.
Someone told me that they just pop out, but they seem like they'll break. Any help?

Thanks

Where do you get one of those tools? Or what can I use in replacement of it? Any ideas?

Next remove the mirror glass, do this by using a tool shaped like the one shown. This is a paint gun wrench with masking tape. But you can buy one made of plastic and you won't need tape.

if u have somethign laying around that looks like that just use it, or check with an auto supply place i guess to see? i dunno....
