This is a discussion thread titled "Tow Mirror Swap", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I just did it a few days ago using the attached file as a guide. It took me 1.5hr to do both sides. I had to remove the door panel to have access to all 3 nuts. I did not figure out another way. Lucky to not have broken any plastic snap during the process! Good luck. They work great!

u could try a search...been mentioned tons of times. basically pull off sail panel, some say u have to remove door panel, others are able to get to bolts w/o that by just pulling it out...so unbolt and unplug stock mirrors and replace with new, bolt back in and plug back in.
I have a SR5 crewmax with regular mirrors (they tilt but do not have defrosters or turn signals on them) and I want tow mirrors. Anyone ever changed my type mirrors for tow mirrors to find out if the tow mirrors blinker and defroster will work?

My dealer replaced my 07 from standard to tow. He took them off another tow mirror equipped Tundra on the lot. He could not get the turn signals or heater to work on my truck, said mine did not have the wiring for tow mirrors. The electric adjustments do work. I was pretty disappointed because the dealer had told me all the mirror lights would work before I bought it.
I swapped my chrome limited mirrors with power adjust, turn, heat, and courtesy light for tow mirrors. Everything works except the running lights. It all depends what wire harness you have in the door. Pretty much what functions you have now you will have with the tow mirrors.

I DID a search but most tow mirror threads were people trying to trade them. I found bits and pieces of how to do it but was just looking for a good recommendations.
Heppel, thanks for the document, that is perfect!!!!!
HeavyRooster when did the courtesy light come on that is mounted on the mirror? Dealer changed mine from tow to Limited on a SR5 and was thinking of wiring the light to the courtesy light at the bottom of the door. Do you still have your switch with the power retract button?
No need to take the door panels off. I swapped my regular for tow in 10 minutes.
Remove tweeter cover (if you don't have tweeters, its the small triangular plastic panel on the door).
Remove plastic panel retaining grommet from top right of door panel, so the panel is movable.
Gently lift the door panel slightly and unhook from where it sits in the area the window slides down in to.
You can access the 3 nuts using a socket set.
I did not remove either door panel. The total swap time was just 10 minutes, which included adding chrome covers to the mirrors.
The 3rd picture shows me removing the lower nut without removing the door panel.

Courtesy light comes on when you unlock truck and stays on for a few seconds (adjustable as I recall?). Still have fold switch.
Swapped the mirrors yersterday. Piece of cake. I have a Tundra Grade and the turn signals work. I got lucky traded straight up.
did your existing stock mirrors have defrosters?
