Thumbs up Re: DIY: OEM Backup Camera Install With Auto Anytime Camera

I purchased my OEM b/u kit from Sparks and it only took 45 min to install. It has the flip down display which I leave down all the time. Never really notice it but I have trained my eyes to look at it instead of rear view mirror since I have a camper shell. I'm going to do the anytime switch mod because I want to be able to check my hitch status while moving down the road..........I often end up stoping just to see if I remembered to latch the hitch pin and connect safety chains. However I'm going to put a momentary on switch on the dash rather than the micro switch. BTW...
Nice instructions Pedro.

I installed the backup camera on my truck about a month ago and I love it! However I really wanted the "anytime" capability. So I bought the switch and the wiring and I believe I have everything in the correct place as far as wiring is concerned. The only question I have is where should I run the wire from the switch to get the 12v needed to power the monitor?

I just install the flip down on my Tundra. I had no problem. It took me about 2 hours, but I am not that mechanical and took my time. The flip works great. I think it would be ideal if it were fixed but I believe the flip is a larger screen. Either way it is a huge improvement and really helps be park my truck.

Nice work, but what if your vehicle like mine a 2008 tundra did not come with the wire under the bed of the truck for the back-up camera, it has a plug under the bed on the drivers side that is used for the tow plug in. Is there a post somewhere to show how to run wires under the bed to the upper console to install the back-up camera system. Thanks.

Is it me or are the pictures gone from the OP? Anyway, installed mine this weekend and took my time. About 1.5 hours.

Anytime mod would be cool but for another day.

Nope that is not for the monitor/camera, this plug is for the monitor

Not sure what that plug is, I never paid attention to what the plug looks like for the Homelink mirror.

Im not talking about the plug inside the truck, im talking about the one under the truck on the passenger side rear.

That plug is under my truck, right where the camera would plug in.

That still isn't it... that plug also is white and has 4 wires if memory serves. Its 108 out don't make me go out and crawl under the truck to grab a pic. *G*

Okay, temp is down to 100 so I crawled under and looked, the plug on the truck is gray, the end from the camera is white, still 4 wires.
