Targamond,

I have had the flip down monitor for about 4 mon, and yes I think it is a pain. I would suggest the fixed angel mounted one...

When I look at pedro's last picture, instead of drilling the hole oriented as toyota says towards the roof, it seems to have been drilled in the curved portion facing the windshield so the wire gets pushed in the cavity instead of interfering.

I plan to tape up that hole and drill a new one in on the drivers' side and towards the windshield in the curved portion.

Also, there are a couple of clips that the oem connetors sit in. One for the camera and I assume the other one maybe for the bluetooth microphone.

Once the connector is attached to the cord from the camera, is it supposed to fit back in that clip, or should I break them and push the connection into that space?

Shawn
Update:

The template is useless. Don't use it. The hole should be drilled about center toward the windshield when the console is installed. Otherwise the camera cable interferes with the console sitting flush against the roof.

Perfect installation after correcting the hole and patching the old one.

The camera is extremely usefull and the screen is very usable. I didn't do the anytime on mod.

Shawn

Got mine installed today. Thanks for the directions. This was very simple install. Doing the TRD intake is harder.

I had the fixed model first but I'm too tall and even with the seat in its lowest position, the angle of the screen was still too great and the glare made the image almost impossible to see. I swapped out for the flip down and I think the LCD screen is better quality too.

I went straight by the DIY in this forum. Connected the connectors under the rear of the truck with the camera cable. Then connected the overhead consol white connector to the monitor. Put the truck in park and nothing happens. I read somewhere about a short pin in the relay box. Not sure if that pertains to my truck. I have an 08 SR5 and it was prewired.

Just checking is PARK a typo? Did you mean Reverse?

Did you do the anytime modification?

Check the fuse box under the dash (drivers side) is everything on the truck working like the radio etc

Check for 12v on the reverse feed (when in reverse) blue wire to the monitor then 6V purple wire coming out of the monitor to the camera.

If no 12v try running a test feed
