TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2007 and later Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "Front color match bumper.", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
Can anyone tell me if the sport color match bumper will fit on the SR5? I have the lower chromed bumper and would like to know if this can easily be replaced with the color matched one. Another question is does SPARKS offer it and how much???
2007 Tundra CrewMax SR5, 5.7L, 4x4, Black with Black Interior, Black leather, TRD package, Cold Weather kit, Line-X, Moonroof, BFG All Terrain T/A KOs 285/65/18, SnugTop SnugLid SL, White LED instrument display with Yakima Rack and soon Camburg Coilovers, Total Chaos UCAs, and a lighter right foot.
I damaged mine and tried to order one from several places, including sparks. None would ship body panels or bumpers without a major hassle and excessive shipping charges.
Just got one from the local stealership for $180 (list is ~225+tax) but you'd need other brackets and trim to replace your chrome one. The gray plastic center section is around $100 by itself.
So, now I'm finding the paint places are wanting 4.2 hrs labor to paint the thing - and that doesn't include R&R. Over $350 in material and labor. Seems pretty high to me.
I have spray equipment so I'll be shooting it myself but I haven't sprayed anything car-like in over 20 years. Anyone know if rattle cans would work at this scale?
They will work, but I'm not sure that the catalysts in the rattle cans will let it cure as hard as stuff you would shoot from an HVLP gun. You might try just getting your chrome bumper etched, primed, and painted. Folks like ThirdHorseman have done just that. If your truck is black, you wouldn't have as much trouble getting it shot at a body shop.
