The only think I DO NOT like about the SOS kit is the fact that you have to epoxy the spring perch. Not very safe IMO if something doesn't bond right or deteriorates over time.
The epoxy just keeps the perch from rotating. The perch itself sits on the bend in the shock (just like the factory perch). The bend in the shock is too big to let the perch slip by. The epoxy doesn't support any of the force.
In relation to the vibration...
I found out that the vibration on the TRD kit is due to an incorrect drive shaft angle. The shims that are included in the kit may not have been used, or may have been installed backwards.
The only thing about this TRD kit I don't like is that the rear sits about an inch too high. Fins has the McGaughy 2/5 kit on his and it was that adjustable shackle for the rear since its a flip kit and it sits perfectly level. I am thinking I would rather have the flip kit than the rear as low as it can go and still sit to high. Not sure that towing my 550lb bike in the bed will be hurt by the flipkit either.

I got all the parts (PTR11-34070-01, 02, 03) and had the kit installed at Lithia Toyota in Redding CA last week. Unfortunatley my truck had a driveline vibration due to driveline geometry beiing off. Contacted TRD and they want to buy the kit back and pay to have my original components re-installed...? TRD originally informed me that the PTR11-34070-02 would be available 5/16/08 but still don't see any of the PTR11 part numbers on TRD site.
I think it was more than a packaging issue. TRD does not seem to be up front with what is going on with these part numbers. I really wanted this kit but may be going with a flip kit if TRD does not get this fixed soon.

Wow...that's wild. Never heard of TRD buying back parts and paying for re-install. Maybe something is wrong with those parts or their design?? Either way, it's pretty cool they're stepping up to the plate. That's the right thing to do. Good luck with it.
Lithia Toyota returned my truck after the second day that they had it and still unable to correct the driveline vibration. I took the truck home and shimmed the carrier bearing approximatley 1/2". After shimming the carrier bearing it has virtually eliminated the vibration, still very slight vibration at 70 miles an hour with light throttle pressure.
Sent TRD an email with no responce, called again and said that they spoke to Lithia and I was to return my truck and have factory suspension put back on and TRD will refund my money including the labor to install. Does that sound like a packaging issue to you?
I want this suspension kit, so I have scheduled an appointment Wednesday to have another shop replace the 3 degree pinion wedge with another shim that will correct driveline geometry. If that does not fix the vibration I am scheduled to take truck into Lithia Thursday and I will have stock stuff put back on and maybe look at the Groundforce or BellTeck lowering kit.
My guess - and this is only a guess - is that the local TRD warehouse wasn't supposed to release those parts to you in the first place. I'm thinking that's why a lot of other people say they can't get the TRD kit right now. In any case, if they made a mistake and sent you some parts Toyota had pulled back off the shelf, this is what they would do. My 2 cents.
Picked up my truck from Redding Brake and Wheel yesterday and the vibration is gone. Jeff the owner of this independent shop replaced the 3 degree pinion shim that came with the TRD performance lowering suspension package with a 1.5 degree shim, and now the driveline geometry is where it should be, no vibration.
This is a great kit from TRD, but they need to add this 1.5 degree pinion shim to the kit. For any of you that have installed this kit you can get this 1.5 degree shim for a 2.5” wide leaf spring at most any auto parts store.
Thanks Jeff...
TRD, are you listening? Or is someone like me too ignorant to know how to fix your mistake?
