Hello everyone. I would like to get an aftermarket intake (probably either an AEM, K&N or Airaid) for my 08 5.7 DC and I noticed that most intakes available are not CARB compliant. A friend of mine said that since its not CARB compliant, its going to throw off my O2 sensors and my service engine light will come on. Is this true? Thanks.

Very doubtful, as the engine has no idea whether something received CARB cert or not...in the other 49 states I'm sure it'll work fine, the trick will be passing inspection without a sticker, or whatever it is which indicates to the guy who wants to fail you that your new intake is approved for use in California.
In other words, don't get rid of your stock intake, you'll need it once a year (or however often you have to get inspection). The other trick might be getting a non-CARB cert part shipped to the PRCA, dunno about that as I'm fortunate to not live there.
*edit* Duhhh...just saw PITTSBURGH ...get the intake, don't worry about CARB, truck will be fine.
The C.A.R.B. applies mostly to California. The enviro-jerks here don't want people to modify or personalize anything. I have an airaid but since my truck is new I don't have to have any inspections for the first 5 years. Even then most smog techs don't care or don't look to see if you have a C.A.R.B. number with your intake or exhaust. I'm sure some jack-*** will get a new tax passed for farting cause methane contributes to global warming.

wow, i probably should get a 5.7 then so there will be no problems. i have a 4.7 and once i put the aftermarket intake piping and filter, Mr. Check engine comes on. heeeeeeeeelp, hehe
Check to make sure there are no leaks or hoses not connected disconnect battery for 20min reconnect should be good. Also make sure MAF is facing the right direction.
You also should disconnect the battery and let it sit for several minutes and then drive it for 20 miles so the computer can relearn. If you haven't done that it may be causing the problem.

1) those enviro jerks are making your air breathable and less carcinogenic - god I hate that.
2) just got my dodge smogged yesterday and they required a CARB # for my Air Raid, called them up and got the number on the spot (and they're sending me a sticker which it should have had in the first place)
