see im still having trouble desiding which intkae to purchase... i mean are they really worth the $350-400. how big of a difference are they from a $50 drop in filter?
now that i have the corsa exhaust, and the charcoal filter removed, it's as good as it gets. if there were dyno numbers to show where the TRD intake would make a real diff on top, i might spring, but that is the only intake i will buy.

just found a site today and they dynoed our 5.7L truck with a stock air intake and then they dynoed it with an araid CAI and got 6 hp out of the deal and they claimed the CAI was under 300$...here is the site 2007 Toyota Tundra - Cold-Air Intake Kit - Sport Truck Magazine

Just a heads up, My Father-in-law put the Corsa Sport Dual Exhaust and the Volant in and the truck lost MPG and felt a little sluggish. He took out the Volant as he loves the Corsa and is getting about 3-4mpg better or about 2mpg above stock and feels like the truck is a little peppier. I took his Volant and put in my truck which still has the stock exhaust to see what it does. I haven't noticed much of a power difference but have averaged 17.2 and 17.8 on a pretty even mix of city and highway on two tanks. Might be a slight increase in mpg from before but my truck has only 1200 miles on it so Break-in is still a big factor. The Volant does sound nice when you romp on it a little, not nearly as nice as the Corsa Exhaust does, that is a nice system!

OK, Thats 1 Dyno test, big deal.
If you take the same truck and dyno it in 3 different states, you will see 3 different numbers.
What type of dyno was it, what were the conditions. There are so many variables, that you can't base you opinion off of 1 article or 1 test.
Clearly, you don't know very much about dyno's or how they work.

ok man i really don't appreciate you downin me like that...i was just tryin to show everyone what i found and i was kind of implying that that is not a very good gain for $300...chill out bro

I had the proforce exhaust and a drop in aFe filter with the carbon filter removed. I think I feel a sizeable increase in performance since I switched to the aFe CAI. It also makes the exhaust (and truck in general) sound MUCH meaner. I feel I got my money's worth with having the exhaust and CAI together.

MX series Cap.
We tested both kits. The Volant added 8-10hp at around 5000 RPM, and the aFe added about the same around 4500 RPM.
As someone has said, dyno tests are a little sketchy and somewhat imprecise. Both aFe and Volant claimed HP increases around 20hp.
There is a benefit to adding a cold air intake at lower RPMS - it's just hard to measure. Doing a dyno test in first or second gear is difficult and inconsistent, so most testers don't bother. However, it stands to reason that there must be some benefit. I've never tested in 2nd, but we've ran tests in 3rd and seen 5 hp gains on both kits (we didn't display these results because they weren't that exciting).

Hey guntech...after a month or so with the AFE CAI, do you see any noticeable gains? A month ago, you thought you were feeling a sizeable increase in performance. I just want to make sure that $300-350 will get me more than just better sound
