They flow very free,you can run them two ways.
Louvers forward is standard,turn them around and their scary loud like straight thru pipe.
My tailpipe dump angle is around 45* to prevent sound reflection.When I rev it the dust out past the bumper moves which pretty well confirms the angle is correct for exiting the rear of the chassis.

Dumping the pipes under the bed, even if it clears the cab, is going to cause resonances on the inside of the truck from the sound waves reflecting off the ground from underneath the body. An exhaust system with full length tubing is going to sound better 99% of the time compared to dumping it right after the muffler(s).
