If i hold for three seconds atrac and vsc go off, but holding it for 3 more doesnt do anything...it just turns it all back on. 2007 - don't know if you can do it. If I'm just stupid and you can do it in an 07, let me know...I have yet to do a burnout in this thing....

On the 2007....tap it once. THEN hold it down for three seconds...try that, and hope it works...

I wish that my '07 could turn off the vsc and keep the simulated LSD on. I love doing fishtails but don't have much luck in this bad boy.
Unfortunately, when the alsd is on, the trac works with it. You can turn your vsc off, and have alsd on.... Problem is, If the truck senses body roll after 10 miles an hour, the vsc will override and shut it down. Try tapping it once, then hold down for three seconds. That should be manual mode... 2007 is different than 2008. You can turn diff things off indepentently in 08.

You are wrong about that. TRAC only works in normal mode with VSC. Whether you have an 07 or an 08, when you push the button once it TURNS OFF TRAC, leaving you with VSC and LSD working. 08's have the added ability to then turn off VSC while in ALSD mode.
it melted the tar the first time. I was so in disbelief so I did it a few more times.
Yup, melts tar consistently. That is with a powerbrake, though. Blowing sideways out of the driveway just tends to leave long weaving 75' black streaks.
So I am guessing no one has found a way to make a 07 work like an 08 (ATRAC and VSC off and ALSD on)? Could there be a computer flash or something for the 07's? I am sure Toyota could give us an update to make or 07's work like the 08's if they really wanted to. I know about the mod that turns everything off on startup but of course that doesn't help since ALSD is still off. I'm also sure no amount of complaining will help Toyota feel sorry for us 07 owners.
After the s/c install I could still shut off everything, or so I thought. Newly installed Banks single is freeing up more power and it seems to keep the nannies on no matter how I try to shut them off. Doesn't make sense. I'm glad this topic is being discussed (again). I'll watch for answers.
Can someone expand on what all of this means? I realize it has to do with the computerized traction control, but when would I want to do this, and why? Am at any disadvantage in rain or poor conditions if I don't put it in manual mode?
I honestly don't know. I usually just leave it all as it is and assume Toyota knows better than me what to do.
