Default Tundra Crewmax Grade or SR5

I am looking to purchase a new truck and I am trying to figure out what the real differences are between the Grade and SR5 Crewmax. I am looking at a crewmax with the tow package, chrome bumper and styled steel wheels added back on. The only difference I can tell between the SR5 and Grade is the front bench seat and real time mileage computer, oh and $2500. There has to be something I am missing with 2500 off the table.

Thanks,

Nick

Here's right out of the Tundra brochure.

SR5 adds the following:
*6 disc in dash CD changer
*Transmission temp gauge
*Overhead console
*Color keyed upper and chrome lower fr. bumper with chrome grill surround
*Variable intermittent windshield wipers
*Heated power outside mirrors
*Fr/rear mudguards
*Cold weather package (heavy duty battery/starter and windshield wiper de-icer grid)
*Tow package
*Different wheels

This is the standard stuff, plus the dealer may have added some options that aren't available on the grade model. Examples of these could be:
*TRD offroad package
*JBL audio system
*Auto dimming rearview mirror w/homelink
*POWER bucket seats (you can get manual buckets in Grade)
*Power moonroof
*Deck rail system
*Running boards

Hope this answers your question.

*Heated power outside mirrors Worth 2500?
*Fr/rear mudguards Worth 2500?
*Cold weather package (heavy duty battery/starter and windshield wiper de-icer grid) Do they have a Hot Weather Package?
*Tow package Included in every truck sold in Louisiana
*Different wheels Uprgraded on the truck I am lookng at

So the only things I am missing are bucket seats, heated mirrors, trip computer, cold weather kit, overhead console and intermitent windshiled wipers for $2500. Its not like they are taking away the windshield wipers.

I was scared off by posts where people did not get cruise control, or keyless entry with their Grade Tundras, but I think I can live with the changes.

Cruise control is standard on grade and SR5. I don't know about the keyless entry. I forgot the SR5 package though. This includes engine skid plate, color keyed bumpers, cruise, remote keyless entry, variable wipers, SR5 fabric, carpet flooring, and SR5 badge.

So the SR5 comes with remote keyless entry but I don't know if you can get it as on option on the Grade.

Some of those options are worth more than the sum of its parts. Take the intermittent wipers - they may not be worth $2500, but you'll be mad as heck every time it drizzles and you have to manually activate the wipers.

Resale value might also get you in the end.

It looks like you could get the Grade to save some money and then maybe add a few aftermarket things such as keyless entry and mudguards if you wish.

I bought the Tundra Grade because the only things my particular truck didn't have were the homelink mirror(which is easy to add later), JBL System and the aluminum front skid plate. It has everything else but was about $2500 less like you said. I also wanted the bench seat anyways.

I have the Tundra Grade, but it came with these options:

*Transmission temp gauge (part of tow pkg)
*Color keyed upper and chrome lower fr. bumper with chrome grill surround
*Variable intermittent windshield wipers
*Heated power outside mirrors
*Fr/rear mudguards
*Cold weather package (heavy duty battery/starter and windshield wiper de-icer grid)
*Tow package
*Different Wheels (aluminum)
*Homelink mirror
*Keyless Entry

If you want a bench seat, and are not too interested in TRD, Moonroof, leather, etc, then save yourself some money and go for the TG. Apples to apples, even with the above options, I saved over $2K from a like equipped SR5.

I bought the CD changer off of a forum member for around $100, if memory serves.

The two things that would have been nice, but that I decided to forgo were the leather steering wheel and bluetooth. Would have needed to go SR5 or above for that.

I was told by a Toyota employee that the TG package was created to compete with the entry level Chevys, and that they have a fair bit less margin on these than the SR5 and of course the Limited. FWIW......

Well, I got what I feel is a great deal on a SR5 DC with TRD. My wife liked the "look" of the truck better, and once I drove it and "kicked" the tires I decided it was the truck for me. The only reason I really wanted a Crewmax was that back window, but I can live without it, espcially for the 3k difference.

You can get bucket seats in the Tundra Grade, its less then 200 bucks to upgrade to them.
