There was a similar thread started recently asking "what mods will you NEVER do?". I'm more curious if anyone has modified their Tundra and regretted it. Or if anyone has actually gone so far as to reverse what they did. I like learning from others misfortunes so I do not have to repeat those mistakes. There was one such poster who mentioned that he had trouble getting his truck aligned properly after getting it lifted. Will it stop me from getting mine modified? No, but at least I'll take those lessons into consideration when doing the research (i.e. looking for a shop that has experience aligning lifted trucks, and there actually is a shop in Pottstown that does).
Factory Remote Start
Next time I will go with an aftermarket unit.
But it's not quite annoying enough to replace it now that it's on the truck.

Ya I read about the remote start and figured I would just go aftermarket. However, I have had the truck for a few months and wonder if I will ever take the time to have it installed....Maybe next winter but its less likely to do once I have the vehicle.....
I bought some tube steps. they are stainless ones that look good but suck big time.
when getting in or out if your foot is even a little wet ya slide right off of it.
i'm thinking of buying some factory oval steps that are wider, but the set i have on there now was a total waste of money.
I installed a Volant CAI but I found I didn't like the volume coming from the engine compartment during acceleration. I wouldn't have minded at all when driving by myself but I couldn't imagine sounding so much like high-school while driving family and friends around town. So, I put the stock back in with a K&N drop-in and sold the Volant to someone on this board.
I wish my Westin tube steps stuck out a couple of inches more. I would replace them but I know I will never be able to get rid of a set of tube steps for a CrewMax unless I am lucky enough to find a local buyer for the exact item. Can't even throw them away easily.

Buy your truck outside of the Gulf States Toyota monopoly if you don't want to compromise.

That's good to know. Let me know if you get the factory ones, how you like them versus aftermarket. This is one mod that I was waiting on because I'm still not sure I want to give up any more ground clearance. It's definitely a step up to get in the Tundra, but for now people will just have to step up... or walk.

Excellent info! I thought about getting CAI and based on your input, I think I'll avoid the Volant. I do like extra power, but not noise.
That reminds me of a 1993 Toyota Pickup I once had that I thought would be cool to put on a 4" lift and 33" mud terrains. I really liked that truck before I did that. My gas mileage dropped 30% or more and the truck was a dog. That 22RE 4-cyl just didn't have the power to push those tires. Not to mention how noisy those mud terrains were. I ended up selling the mud terrains, but I didn't have the motivation to remove the lift kit.
Wow, this thread is getting a great response! Thanks people!
yess i added a limited badge to my truck and the chrome piece started to corrode or turn white and also i put on the fender vents after a few months they looked ugly and i didn't know what the hell i was thinking so i tried removing them and didn't work to well so i had to use a water pump plier to pull it off then while i was wiping the area where it was i scratched the truck so all together with the stupid mods i've lose like 30 dollars not much but i will not do that crap again lol ok all you guys can yell at me now lol

Go to your Tundra and apologize give it a nice wash.
When I got my Tundra just almost a year ago the choices were limited regarding exhaust systems. While I don't exactly regret buying the Gibson single, I may have gone a different route if I had had the choices avalible today.
Sometimes I wonder how an all black powder coat cw grill would have looked like also, but I don't regret any of the mods.
I bet when its time to buy wheels and tires I will be doing a lot of second guessing! $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

yes those would qualify for mods anyone would regret. no one should be turned loose in a Vato Zone with a credit card.
makes me think....how many sets of those stick on fender vents have they sold? they are popping up everywhere in the ghetto and look like crap on anything....

Has to be the best little engine ever IMO. I sold one two years ago that had over 300K and the guy is still driving it. Not sure how many miles now since the speedo broke.
My lil brother has a 95 with 298K hard hard miles on it and still runs like a champ. Original engine, tranny, rear end. It's lucky to see an oil change every 7k miles.
As far as mods I regret. Changing the exhaust to begin with. I finally went back to the factory exhaust. I'm just too old for noise anymore. IMHO the truck did not pull as well at low rpms with the aftermarket exhaust.
