Tundra v Sequoia Engine Test
I have a '07 Tundra DC, 4x4, 5.7 LTD. I have enjoyed the truck immensely but have always felt that the engine sounded a little "raspy" at high RPM. Almost to the point that I sometimes question if all is OK. It's tough to describe in words but above 4K rpm, the engine has a "metallic", "rasp" to it almost like a valvetrain "clatter".
Today, one of my co-workers rented a '08 Sequoia 4x2, 5.7 LTD and I took it for a test drive. The Sequoia did not have the same "rasp" at high RPM but did not feel substantially different than my Tundra in terms of power.
It could be many things and maybe the Sequoia has different intake or exhaust tuning or more sound deadening material.
Has anyone driven both a Tundra and Sequoia with the 5.7 and noticed a large difference in engine acoustics?
