I am noticing that under full throttle launches the shift points seem earlier than before I put larger tires on. From 1st to 2nd it is shifting 500-800 rpm before redline (It did this before). But from 2nd to 3rd it is shifting at least 500 rpm before redline as well - I don't recall it doing this before the larger tires. Not sure about any other gears.
I am wondering if the fact that I haven't had my computer re-calibrated for larger tires is affecting my shift points? Any ideas, thoughts?
I have the 285/65/18 and I haven't really noticed anything like that (also haven't been paying attention) but I do notice it's a bit harder to get up hills without giving it some stick. There's a few steeeeeep hills here (that I've seen a pickup truck and a BMW get stuck on at the same time but the pickup made it about 30 feet farther lol) and I notice that to get up the hill I have to take it up to about 3K rpm and that's even keeping me in last place.
If the price of gas is under 3.75 when I fill up today or tomorrow I'll give you a WOT.

I do alot of driving on 6-7% grades, I have the 4.7L and I guess I havent noticed to much because I do so much driving in "S" mode...I will try to pay more attention and see if this happens

The way I understand is like this. Your computer is set from the factory with a specific size tire. Our trucks computers are not able to learn a new tire size without being calibrated for them. If you change tire size, whether bigger or smaller, the shiftpoint will remain calibrated for the stock tire, causing the truck to shift too soon if you went with larger tires or too late if you went to smaller tires. A small change in tire size probably doesn't effect it a lot. Again, that's the way I understand it.

Love your avatar LOL
I couldnt get the dealer to "calibrate" anything after I had the tires installed...told me it couldnt be done, they couldnt even get the Tire pressure sensor light to go off after I paid the $50 to make it go away and replaced the broken sensor...still on. I,ve put about 10k on it since then.

as far as i know you can by the hypertech to fix your speedo with larger tires and thats all. have to wait for a tuner to be available to adjust your shift points. i have noticed alittle more downshifting with my bigger tires, buts thats to be expected. i cant wait for a tuner

My speedo is off about 8 mph . Where can I get the Hypertech?

i am sure you can go to their website and order. several people have this, just try a search and see if you can find it. you could go to your local hot rod shop and they can order it for you also. imo, its kinda pricey just to fix the speedo. mine is just a couple of mph off, so i am holding out for the tuner, one should be out soon. HOPEFULLY

This is what I was thinking - but its backward. With larger diameter tires the ECU thinks the vehicle is moving slower than it actually is (if its reading the speed sensor). So if the wheels are actually rotating slower for a given speed wouldn't the ECU delay the shifts to compensate?
I have the 33" BFG's They are appox. 1.5" bigger than stock so I calculated that I am actually travelling 4% faster and farther than indicated.
Can the dealership re-calibrate for the tires? Or do I have to buy a tuner?

dealer cannot do this. have to buy a tuner or the hypertech tire/speedo recalibrator
That Hypertech module looks a whole lot easier to install than the Truspeed I did a few weeks ago. With the Truspeed you have to slave into the speed sensor wire behind the gauge cluster and solder it in place, but with this beauty, it's just plug in and go.
