Default 07 power seat clicking issue

I have a 2007 DC LWB 5.7L 4x4 with the center console and captain's chairs. It was recently in for the yearly Taxachusetts inspection sticker. Immediately after the inspection the driver's seat developed a snapping sound when accelerating, breaking or hitting bumps in the road. I called the place that I got the inspection sticker from, they claim they did nothing (KIA dealership in Shrewsbury, MA). State inspection search showed them as the closest place to where I work which is why I went there.

After I was turned away due to lack of proof I decided to take it to a local Toyota dealer to see if they could fix it since it still under warranty (14 months old now, but 30k on it so time is ticking). They, of course, don't hear anything and won't do a test drive with me until a few weeks when they have an opening. I can sit in the chair and lean back and forth and make the sound happen, also pulling on the bottom seat with a little force works as well. I've driven with my Samsung camcorder under the seat to see if i can see something moving , however this was to no avail.

Since I have no support from Toyota on this; does anyone have have any documentation on how to disassemble/reassemble the power drivers seat?

I had what appears to be a similar prob on my 07 Bench seat.

My dealer raplaced the driver seat. It was nort a problem to duplicate with a service writer. They did keep it for a couple of days for the field rep to hear. They provided a rental (Mitsu Raider).

However it is doing it again, but not as bad. I find that if I crank up thenob that moves up the front end of the seat(end of thighs, back of knees) this seems to stop it.

It seems that the seat mechanisms are sloppy.

There are a couple of different threads on this topic.

I have had the same problem with my 07 DC 5.7L since about 2 weeks after purchase. I had it to the dealer twice (for regular maintenance) before I got the service manager to hear the noise. They initially confused with the usual "rumble" when you move the seats instead of a distinctive "click" sound.

Yesterday I had my truck in for regular service and also to fix the noise and they said they found the problem; the seat track pins were worn. They replaced the pins and now I will see if that actually fixes the problem.

if you follow some of the other links, you will see where some guys have had their seats replaced.

Good luck on your fix; I hope mine is as simple as the seat track pins but I am not yet sure.

My 08 captain seat/console setup has a "clicking" sound too. But I know it is the seatbelt not the seat. Try yours with the seatbelt on and jiggle the belt where it goes into the female end and see if you hear the "clicking" sound. It drove me crazy and now I temporarily fix it by stuffing a small rag between the seat and the seatbelt mechanism to keep it tight.
