This is a discussion thread titled "First Warranty Claim", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
Thought I'd give you guys a heads up on this kind of silly ordeal. I blew out a right front tire a week ago (long story on the tires, all 5 are now E rated) but as I started undoing the right front to put the spare on I had one lug nut that was pretty tight, so I start reefing on it to try and get the lug nut loose. Now keep in mind its 2:30 AM and I am 200 miles north of town and any gas station on a gravel highway as I start reefing on the tire iron the neck where it bends starts to misshape and bend in a way its not supposed to. I had to be very careful in how I ended up getting that lug nut off cuz if my tire iron would have bent any more I would have been SOL. Anyway I took it in and showed it to the Service manager and they are gonna replace it for me under warranty. This will be the first component replaced on this truck in 11,000 miles of driving it. But a heads up to you big boys out there, go easy on that tire iron cuz if you think the bed metal is thin you will find that they went chinsy on the tire iron metal too!...grin

Dont inflate my head I am only 5'9" 180lbs, I can only imagine what a big boy would have done to it!.....grin
Well we do have some fairly huge people round here I think that's why the tailgates break you guys sit your big *** on them Just fun guy dont get mad and get your as torn up
Speaking of Tailgates, after the chit strom I started on that one they appear to now have a better tailgate available and I will be fighting that good fight when I go in to pick up my tire iron. I have been patiently waiting on that one to fix itself. I did bring a fellow Tundra owner up to speed the other day when I noticed both ends of the top of his tailgate were folded out and not flush with his bed rail. He said.....the only thing heavy I have put in my bed has been my 4 wheeler, and I said......BINGO!

Thanks for the heads up. I may go over to an auto parts store and see if I can pick up an old style 4 way lug wrench that will work on the Tundra metric system.

I have one of those in there now Torch, cant imagine the new Tire Iron being that much better than the one I bent. Plus I been running up the Haul Rd a bunch with the whole bear hunting thing and had to have something in there I could use should I need to. (fingers crossed!)

Wow. If you had the steel wheels, you'd be SOL as those steel wheels are tightened to 150 ft ibs. Can't see a stock lug wrench being able to take that off.
I'm f-ed in the tire iron department...Damn stock tire iron doesn't fit the adapter for my wheel locks on my rims lol. Luckily I have AAA or else I'd be SOL also!

Guess what I will do before I head To Montana on the 4th is get me a good socket and breaker bar plus a cheater bar that what I always carried in my 1987 and 1973 Bronkos; That's a lot better than a 4 way--One time I was sure glad I had the cheater bar as I was elk hunting by my self in the middle of no where and I was hunting alone and I had tightened it way to tight myself !
