UPDATE # .....I don't know, there has been so many so far.
I just picked up my truck yesterday to have them install a THIRD driveshaft due to the clunk/thud feeling when stopping and accelerating. And guess what, to my surprise the clunk/thud is still there!!! I have already contacted Toyota Corporate and a Factory Service Technician from Toyota has already inspected my truck prior to the third driveshaft install. At this point I don't know what to do. Oh yeah, my dealer is unwilling to do anything that has to do with breaking down the driveshaft and lubing certain parts which has seemed to work for other owners with this same problem. They claim Toyota will not authorize them to do so.
Should I go back to the dealer or call back Toyota Corporate?
I am going to do alittle reasearch on the California Lemon Law. Any advice would be helpful and appreciated.
Thanks

Mine goes in tommarrow for the 3-drive shaft too. I have already met with the regional Toyota guy. I want it to be fix but after reading your info not sure it will work. I still think its transmission issue but they claim its not. The Toyota rep drove my tundra for over an hour and though that I got an old new drive shaft. I was always told third same repair and they have to buy it back? Still love the truck but its getting old.

Well good luck and keep us posted. Maybe I got 2 old new driveshafts.
On another note I read the "Lemon Law" requirements for California and apparantly the vehicle must be in the shop for the same reason 4 times in order for the "lemon Law" to potentially kick in. Not sure about AZ.

I would call corporate back and ask them why they authorized a FL dealer to break down the driveshaft (and cure the problem) but they won't for you/your dealer??
Our law is very simular. But reading it puts a limit on Miles? Time? See below:
The same nonconformity has been subject to repair four or more times by the manufacturer or its agents or authorized dealers during the shorter of the express warranty term or the period of two years or twenty-four thousand miles following the date of original delivery of the motor vehicle to the consumer, whichever is earlier, but the nonconformity continues to exist.
I just had my driveshafts and bearings replaced last week for this TSB and the "thunk" is still there. I've contacted the dealer about it and plan to bring it there this week.

Well, I contacted Toyota Corporate again to officially make my complaint about the problem. They have contacted the dealer and are "investigating" the issue as we speak. Apparently my last driveshaft was sent to Toyota for analysis. I was supposed to receive a call yesterday from Toyota but did not hear from them.
All I want is for them to fix the problem. I informed Toyota that other owners that have the same problem have had their dealers disassemble, lube and reinstall their driveshafts and that has seemed to fix the problem. The individual I was speaking to was not a technical person and didn’t understand what I was saying. I think she was an HR employee and is only to relay information and not provide insight.
We’ll see. I will keep you all updated.

My update, drive shaft #3 went in last Wednesday including the original one that I bought the truck with. The clunk is still thier and is not any better. Not sure what path to take now. Call Toyota Corp? Question to everyone else, are you running the TRD Sway bar? I was thinking of disconnecting mine and see if that makes a difference? At what point and how many driveshafts do they change without resolution?
well i have had my truck at the dealer twice. the first time the put the new driveshaft in and i worked for a couple of days and then came back, but not as bad. i had my dealer call the florida dealer since they have the fix, but evidently that didnt go as planned. my guess is toyota has to come up with another fix for this, and until then were s.o.l.
So I finally got another call from Toyota COrp. and they basically said that they do not have a solutions for the clunk/thud sensation from the drivetrain and that they are looking into the problem. I will be notified when a solutions is found. I am supposed to call them back in a few weeks to see if there are updates.
So I have to drive around with this clunk/thud feeling when coming to a stop and accelerating. I didn't pay $30k for a truck that feels this way. Toyota even said that the truck is safe to drive and that the clunk is normal but considers mine abnormal. What a crock. I have driven new 08 F150's and Silverados and neither of them do this. It's not normal.
Oh well, the thread carries on. I'll update when available.

Sorry, no fix yet. Toyota finally called me back 3 weeks after they initially called me to tell me that they don't think the problem is a safety issue and the truck is safe to drive and that there is not fix at this time. I asked, "So now what? I have to drive around with this annoying thud forever?" They basically said they are looking into it and to call back in a couple of weeks.
I hate driving with this thud/clunk sensation. It's driving me crazy to think I spent all this money to have this issue. Makes me wish I would have waited to buy a Chevy 2500 Duramax, just couldn't afford it at the time.
Anyone have any new info?

Today I took my 07 dc 4x4 trd to the dealer for the first time ever. (I have 20K miles on it). I went for an oil change because my leg is buggered up and crawling around is too much like work right now. I provided Mobile1 0W-20 synthetic and toyota filter carttridge.
I was pleased to find out a friend is still one of the certified Toyota mechanics. I told him I had the 'clunk' when it downshifts and when I corner sometimes. Without much fanfare they told me I would have to come back and they would install a new drive shaft.
I got to talk to my buddy and I asked him about the camshaft problems from a year or so ago. He said some of them were manufactured improperly. Too much pressure was applied when turning them and it caused some cracking. Eventually a few broke and caused around a $10K repair. Apparently the issue has been resolved because I havent seen any comments about this for quite some time. Now I am curious to see if the new drive shaft corrects the 'clunk.' I sure hope so.
Here's a side note: I also asked for a 4 wheel alignment because I got a new set of Silent Armor Pro 275/70-18s and have changed rear leaf springs and added rear leveling air bags. When they were done they gave me a readout of the before and afters and everything was within spec. Except for some reason they forgot to notice the new tires sitting in the bed of the truck and didn't install them. They forgot to put that on the service order. They will install the new tires when I go back for the new drive shaft. At least I now have a list of the spec ranges for everything. Very handy info for future use if I ever go to my local mechanic.

The clunk I am experienceing is felt when coming to a stop and slowly accelerating. It feels like there is slack in the drivetrain and when you accelerate the slack is taken up, hence the clunk. Might be different from what you are experiencing. I have had my driveshaft replaced twice to no avail. The clunk temporarily was better but a few days later it's back and worse each time. It's to the point where it makes my truck unpleasurable to drive.
Take off from a dead stop real slow and see if you feel a clunk/thud in the drivetrain. If so, you've got the disease.
