Had mine done today, and still the the clunk/thud noise. Pretty upset that its still there. The whole drive shaft assembly was replaced. Im debating about going back and having them test drive it again. Dealerships are so full of crap. Sucks!

And this is exactly what I was worried about. Last year, Toyota released a TSB for 'weak rear suspension' for the Tacomas. It replaced the stock 3-leaf springs with 4-leaf springs. Lots of people went in to get the TSB completed, and an alarmingly high number of people found that the dealership ordered and installed new 3-leaf springs, which was the old part number. I'm curious if the same thing was done on your truck.

man that does suck. makes you wonder if the dealer even put the new one in
Okay I went to my dealer today for something else and inquired about this. They said they were sent a special punch. Anyway you push it against the shaft and if it punched a hole through it then they order a new one. They did this to the rear shaft though. seemed kind of odd to me.

Naked, no one will ever know what just passed them up. Heck they probably don't even know the color.
There are actually two TSB's for the driveshaft -- one for the faulty driveshaft alloy and another for the "clunk" you feel when the truck moves. Do a look around the forum and you'll see there are threads where they post the TSB PDF for you to print out and take to the dealer.
I think you're talking about a different issue. I'm pretty sure there was another TSB or recall for the hardness of part of the driveshaft. Thats where they would test it. That didn't have anything to do with a clunk or thud.
A factory guy is coming out to check out my truck next thursday. My local shop foreman is "lost" with this issue. He said that the factory guy knows what it is. They think mine is the tranny though...
I just want it fixed already!

Just out of curiousity, can anyone post the TSB for the issue mentioned above?
I just picked up my truck after having the driveshaft replaced per the TSB and as somebody else already posted in this thread, it did not remedy the problem at all. I'm not sure where to go from here...

Tell the dealership that the problem was not fixed. They'll forward that info to Toyota, and sooner or later Toyota will realize that the TSB isn't working, discontinue it, and then look for a new fix.
I called as soon as I got home with the truck and had to leave a voicemail for the service manager who dealt with my truck. I didn't receive a call back so i'll give him until sometime Monday before I call again. Depending on what they say I may call Corporate myself and see if they will start a case regarding this or at least see what they say.
I finally got somebody on the phone at my dealership today since they never called me back. I was told they have called Toyota and have an open case and will let me know as soon as they know something. They said they had one other customer with the same clunking, replaced the driveshaft per the TSB and it didn't fix it just as it didn't for me.
