Default Re: 19.8mpg after HC removed!

I consistently get 17.5 at 75 mph, 19.5 at 60 mph. I am not convinced that removing the HC filter would give me any improvement. If it would bump it up to 25 or 30, then I would go for it.

my trucks calculator thing always said about 311-330 miles left after filling up. I filled up today for the first time since I put the TRD CAI in and removed the HC filter and it said 422 miles left to drive!

Did you reset the truck by disconnecting the battery?

Ya wanna know something that sucks???

This morning I filled up and then drove my 30 mile commute...by the time I got to work my mileage had leveled off at 19.2 mpg...effing great, right?

Now, I dread my drive in 7 hours...the trip back home kills the mileage, stop and go all the way...freeway and in town, it'll be down to 14 +/- by the time I pull into my driveway.

I hate traffic.

Arrrrrg.

That's why the range changed. Not the filter.

I got an extra 100 miles per tank by disconnecting the battery for a while? had nothing to do with installing a CAI and removing the HC filter?

Correct. It didn't really change, it's just a computer trick. It'll slowly go back down. Your actual range didn't change at all.

Did you ever notice your MPG going back up after you reinstalled your HC?

I don't know if my experience is just coincidence or not but ever since I removed my HC and reset my Computer (battery disconnect).. My mileage with pretty much the same driving habits went from 18.xx to 17.7.. there were 2 times that I got 19.x with the HC still installed but I've never seen that again..

It would seem to make sense that removing the HC would do nothing but increase mileage.. Any theories on how the HC installed would increase MPG??

Thanks!

I might do the same and pop mine back in over the weekend and run a couple tanks and see if the increase returns...
