I consistently get between 18 & 19.5 whether I use cheap gas or the more expensive Shell or Chevron. My truck is stock, 37k miles and still runs like new. Water coming out of your tail pipe has nothing to do with the gas in the tank...it depends on what the weather is on a particular day ie: temp and humidity
I agree as long as it isn't anti-freeze, you are ok...
Did this mod about 2k miles back.. no change whatsoever.. 13-14mpg before, 13-14mpg after.. all city type driving - if you can call northern vt city type.. mostly 35-50 mph, stoplights.. still havnt seen great mileage with this truck, approaching only 6k miles total though.
Well my truck just turned over 600 miles. Just did this mod, took all of 5 minutes. Let the battery sit disconnected for 15 mins. I'll post any MPG progress after my next fill up.
One thing I did notice though, after starting the truck for the first time after this mod it idles in park at 2k. In gear it idles at 1k. I shut it down for a few minutes and started it again. Now it idles in park at 1,500 and at 1k in gear. Negative on the check engine lights.
Anyone else experience this..?

I've had this done for approx 20,000kms and there was not much difference. I am getting 18-19 Canadian MPG on the highway, was about the same before.

I experienced the same deal, the truck never idled this high before. I disconnected the batteery for about 10 minutes, does it need to sit longer to clear this issue? If not, I will put the HC back on.
I don't have time to read all the posts in this thread but, will doing this void any part of my warranty?

To clarify from another members post, I have a 4.7 not the 5.7. Also after coming in and typing my previous post I returned to my truck which was idling at the normal 750 rpms. It just struck me as odd because the truck never idled that high since I've owned it. When I returned to it after 3 hours of class tonight it fired up and idled at 750.
I didn't notice the truck any louder nor did I experience any noticable throttle response. Hopefully I score points in the MPG department, which is my only motivation for performing this mod.
I just pulled my charcoal filter out of my tundra with the neg bat disconnected like i was suposed to. when i first turned the truck on after i was done, it died. then on the second start up ran fine and still does. but please tell me i did not F up my truck to all hell and gone.
First justinsfa your not funny, you seriously had me freaked out man. and second i check the one link and 1 other guy said he had the same thing. is it just the ECU resting?

You will be fine ! Your freaking out ! It will go back to normal !
I just hope no damge was done to the MPRCC. During the start up .
It's the ECM resetting and anti-theft system re-learning your chipped key.
This thread will now be merged with the other.
Edit...I should also add, if it doesn't die or sputter like it's going to when you 1st fire it up after the battery disconnect, you have not fully cleared the ECM.
