You guy that are getting high mpg must not have aftermarket tires and 4x4. I drove my truck all highway on a 300 mile stretch at 65mph with cruise control and the avg was 15.7. I would give anything for 19.8!
Ouch, those tires must be killing you. My 4x4 gets 17-17.5 (depending on how much drafting I do) at 70-75mph.

FYI, I am still using the originals from a TRD package. Of course you are pulling a heavier rollers, but should notice slight mpg improvement and throttle response no matter what you have modified.
Don't get me wrong this truck hauls a*# after the mods that I did. I was thinking about putting the stock tires back on which I still have just for better mpg but it won't look as bad!

The high idle might also not be happening because the temp is much higher than it has been all year. It was nearly 90 degrees today and the truck may not have needed the higher idle speed since it was closer to operating temp.
Either way I didn't notice any massive, or even measurable power gains. If anything this is probably not going to render any gains, but it doesn't hurt anything so why not give her a try?
I believed someone here have posted and claimed that there is a slight but not massive improvement or gain. But will do a search. Again, if you will notice the charcoal filter is very restrictive, you will be amazed of how much choking our intake is suffering for more air.
I just pulled filter out, and am currently resetting the battery. I consistently get 15.4mpg in town, so I'll know in a couple of days exactly how this has effected mileage.
Just to share another info to you guys for the mpg I have today driving 75-80 mph since it has no traffic on my way to work. It is just a little lower than yesterday. Apologize for the picture quality, I am using my Palm Treo only.

Yep. It is in the filter case upstream of the air filter. It is believed to be there only to trap fuel vapors after the engine is shut off.

Do you need to replace the HC with something else after pulling it out?
Thanks,

It is totally different than the air filter, the HC (Hydrocarbon) or charcoal filter only traps the unburn fuel fumes. You do not have to replace anything after pulling it out, but I will strongly suggest to keep the filter for future smogtest to be on the safe side.

We believed you. And I did not say it didn't. I only said that this will help other Tundra owners who haven't done or dont want to spend anything on their intake. Personally, I would like to get an drop-in AEM dry filter next.
