so i installed mine this morning. and yes...the homelink settings stayed after disconnecting the battery (thanks!).
i know i'm running a genI rig, but i'll post my notes here since this is where the gb unichip action is at.
my install was decent & instructions were accurate! the ecu on genI is located behind the glove box, so most of my time was spent in that wonderful position of feet on ground, one a$$ cheek in the air and the other on the running board, while ribs were resting on the door sill and left elbow grinding into the floor mat right next to the bolt that holds the seat.
ANYWAYS.....i had some difficulty getting the pnp harness to stay put even after using the velcro, but all of the modular plugs "clicked" like they were supposed to. the unichip is mounted to the vent tube with one screw and the A/B switch is currently coiled up in the glove box.
i did not get a valid excuse to leave the house and try the unichip yet, but starting the engine was great. you could hear a little bit of a difference in that moment after you turn the key but before the engine actually comes on. there was more fuel in the air after this startup then before, but it's probably attributed to the truck learning it's new toy. i revved it up a few times and it looked like it was getting to 5000rpm with a lighter touch from my foot. i opened up the cutouts...no CEL (phew!) and revved some more.
she sounds very happy and i can not wait till i get her on the street.
oh yeah...i've only put in 89 octane since the day i brought her home. i intend to keep putting it in as well. i was thinking of dropping to 87 now that i have the chip, but hey...money grows on trees so i'll stick with 89. but since i have small trees i can't jump up to 91 octane!!!

Could somebody who purchased the unichip kit that had it mapped for A Cold Air Intake (AFE) check in the paperwork packet for a white sheet that has a " Kit Quick Check list". On that checklist does it say in the blank box "DROPIN/CATB"? I ordered mine to be mapped for AFE CAI and CAT-BACK exhaust. Just wandering if the word DROPIN is standard for CAI. Thanks guys

if it says drop in than thats what you got. make no mistake it isn't a cold air intake set up. and what type should be listed to.
call them before you spent time installing it.
my .02 cents

to all of you, make sure before you install your unichip it has all the right map's. cai, headers, cat back. etc.
so whats the overall concensus thus far on this unit? a worth while improvment? or just so-so... i guess they are still working on removing the top speed limiter and improving the shift points. i want to see how satisfied the 5.7 owners are before i consider purchasing a unit.

Well, I installed my Unichip on Friday. Installation is tight, but the Unichip wire looms are plenty long. The problem comes from the factory wiring looms being so short. I took the fuse box lid off and unbolted the fuse box too. Additionally, I unbolted the wiring bracket that holds the factory wire on the top of the computer and bent it towards the computer to give me a little more play in the wire. I left the back bolt out of the fuse box (just no way to get it in) but put the other two back in. Truck seems to run smoother (I just have a catback) and power seems to be a little more.
Drove from Casper, WY to Billings, MT (275 miles) on the interstate at 76 to 77 mph by gps and averaged 20.0 mpg calculated at the pump. My previous best on this trip was 19.0 mpg so this is promising. I picked up a 21 foot toy hauler and towed back to Casper on Sunday. Tundra towed fine and I didn't have any problems. This is the first trailer I have towed with the Tundra so I can't compare before and after towing, but the Tundra handled the trailer pretty well.

Maybe after some #'s and a version 2.0 with longer looms I'd pull the trigger.
