Finally got mine installed on Saturday! I have definitely noticed an improvement in throttle response and power. It feels much more peppy when i put my foot in it. I'm not too worried about gas mileage right now, I'm just enjoying the power and allowing the truck to relearn. After I'm done having my fun with this tank, i'll fill up again and go for mpg' s on 87. After that tank, I'll fill up with premium and see if I can notice a big difference. If its like night and day, I'll run the premium, if not, I'll stick to the cheap 87. Install was a pain in the a$$ at first. The hood strut pi$$ed me off the whole time. I eventually unbolted the fuse box and the OEM wire harness bracket attached to the firewall. This allowed much more room and manuevering ability and it went right in. I advise everyone to do the same, or you'll be fighting with it the whole time. Had I done this initially, I could have installed it in 15 minutes instead of 30 I would like to get a cat back, maybe even some headers, before I spend money to get it custom tuned.

Install sounds familiar... My check engine light came on last night. Truck seemed fine, still don't like the way it shifts and it's been through about 3 tanks of gas... wonder if the dealership would adjust my traction control sensitivity? Seems like it has better power and response but the power isn't getting to the ground.
Had a new Hemi try and race me last night on my way home, beat him with the engine light on even but I thought I should have smoked him a lot worse. Gonna line it up with the 08 Cremax and see if I get stomped. If I do the chip is for sale.... Almost 3 miles per gallon Better towing my fifth wheel but no real difference when I'm not, and that's most of the reason why I bought it.

I noticed my shifts were off too at first, but then I completely turned off traction and stability control and repeatedly punched it from low speeds, running up through the gears, and it seems to be adjusting. Its even more eager and punchy now. It bucks like a bronco when gassing it from a red light. Maybe your truck just needs to relearn your driving style. Did you turn off traction and VSC before you raced?

I have some gas mileage results for towing my camp trailer (6000-6500 lbs)over the weekend. This was from about 500' elevation up to about 5000' and back again:

The first tank up the hill was 9.2 mpg
The 2nd tank back down the hill is 11.3 mpg for an average of 10.3 mpg.

In the past I have been right at or just under 10 mpg as an average so the chip may have helped a little (as in 5% or so).

I might make a few more gtech runs with the intake installed tonight...then down the road in a few days I will do some without the unichip.

Mike

Guess I'll try that before I take it out, pulled the battery to reset the code and bumped the chip back down to the less agressive setting. I'm running 89 in it but the lowest elevation I see is 3300 feet so I figured I was fine.

I had the traction contol half/on until I stopped at a light after the second time he tried to run me in town. Was at about 95 when I really started leaving him but I always noticed a gain in the top end with the chip. Funny thing is the midrange power seems better once the traction control lets go with it's still on. I drive fairly aggressive and the truck would jump before the chip, now it seems like the traction control doesn't let it do that.
I really wish I had the 08 traction control with the VSC off and LSD on but the 07 doesn't. Also thinking about putting the chip in the 08 and seeing if it responds the same way.
The 08 consistantly get's 16-17 but it has stock tires still. Have 33x12.50's Toyo MT's on the 07 and I know they are much heavier, I think it's close to 30 pounds. Before that I had my 305 BF AT KO's, not as heavy but still never got the milage the 08 does.

Did you get the harnesses to mount the way they have them in the picture or hovering over the top so all the harnesses would fit like me and a few others on here?

You have to turn the the nannies completely off. Having the VSC off and LSD on will not help you at all. It is an electronic LSD so it is applying brakes to the wheel that is slipping. I would imagine that it would only slow you down.

Unichip also recommends starting out with the less agressive map (MAP A) and getting a baseline with your truck. It states on their website that some vehicles to do not respond well to the more agressive timing on MAP B.

My truck seems to hesitate since I installed the UniChip, specially in the mornings when I leave for work. Has anyone else noticed this? I'm running the 87 octane program, cat back and CAI. How do I make sure the maps are right for that setup as well?

Definitely call them if you are experiencing anything out of the ordinary. Though we mean well, forum members don't always have the right answers, so if a manufacturer is more than willing to help, we should take advantage of that resource.

Mine is installed similarly to the pictures, but again, I disconnected the fuse box and OEM wire harness support in order to get it that way. You should really run a couple tanks on the 87 octane (map 0) setting before going to the premium. The premium setting (map 1) advances timing and is more aggressive. You must turn VSC/LSD off completely by holding it until the squiggly lines appear. If you did this and still felt a loss of power at full throttle, maybe you shouldn't run the premium map until you can get tuned for it. Your truck may be more sensitive to knock and could be pulling timing. Also, I believe the premium map is tuned for 93 octane fuel. If all you have access to is 91, you should consult Unichip before running this map. Or you should add some octane booster at each fill up to be safe. DO NOT run the premium fuel map with anything less than 93 octane fuel in your tank. Also, don't flip the switch while leaving the gas station after filling up with premium. Drive it around for a while to make sure the 87 is purged.

If you don't give Unichip the chance to deal with these issues - don't complain about them. Nobody knows their chips better than they do. Although the TS members are trying to help, most of it is guesses. If you don't go to Unichip for help, you are probably NOT going to be satisfied with the product. They have come on the forum more than once asking you guys with problrms/questions to contact them so they can help you. Give them a fair chance to help you and make you happy.

My comment was for those that have already bought it and have issues/questions. You are 100% correct though. There will be "teething problems", that's why I waited. If I decide to pull the trigger on this, it will cost me more than what these guys got it for, but they have to deal with the growing pains I won't. I'm sure there will be more options down the road also. I'm also sure that Unichip will have more and more to offer in their chip.
