I filled up with 93 octane premium this weekend and flipped the switch on my Unichip. After driving around for a few miles I noticed more power and throttle response. I definitely felt better acceleration. I ended up at 15.2 mpg's on my last tank of regular. Before the chip, I was at 14.2 or so. If I drove like a grandma, I probably could have gotten at least 1.5 more mpg's, but I couldn't keep from putting my foot in it. I'm interested to see what kind of mpg's I get with premium fuel. The numbers that Andrew is getting with his tuning is impressive. The tuner in my area is very good also, but I don't know when I'll get it done. He's an hour and a half away and I would like to get a custom exhaust like Ryder exiting the side first.
I just got through my first tank with the b map and proper fuel. In california we can only get 92 octane. The b amp ran smooth with it, but was underwhelming in the performance. I added some 104+ octane booster and it made a perceptable difference. More responsive and powerful.
Before the chip I was at 15.1 mpg avg by the computer. After several tanks of gas on the a map I was at 17.4 mpg, and after driving a tank full (with booster) on the b map the milage has dropped to 16.1. My foot was in it a lot on the last tank.
I want a custom tune, but that has to wait for a while. I am lucky enough to have a tuner about 20 miles away, and its hard not to justify the expense.
Now that I have put well over 1500 miles on the odometer since the chip I am happy to say I do not regret the purchace. Both of maps run butter smooth.
Sorry to hear of others that have not gotten the performance from the canned tune. I hope things get resolved for you.

Sounds like we have similar results and are both enjoying our Unichip. You'll need to add octane booster with every tank to prevent the computer from retarding timing because of the 92 octane. When you get it custom tuned, just tune it for 92. I'm looking forward to my mpg's ticking up with every tank.

I am happy with the peformance results so far. I saw slight decrease in MPG from 13.9 to 13.6 and that was after 600 miles on the chip. Same driving habits...heavy footed!
ok thanks to jason for letting me dyno his truck again here are the #s run 1 no unichip 280 hp 279 tq run 3 unichip with tune 304 hp 336 tq that is a gain of 24 hp and 57 tq
Keep in mind that Mustang Dyno's are 11% less than Dynojets which i suspect some of you guys used for dynos. Taking the 11% into account that put me at 310hp and 309 tq before and now puts me at 337hp and 373tq with the unichip. Either way the gains are awesome. Ill try and get my dyno chart up tonight if i can get my scanner to work. Thanks soo much to Andrew from San Dimas Auto, I really recomend him if your in the So. Cal area or if your trying to get a group together to fly him to your area.

Well its Andrew's secret, but it was dyno'd in 4th gear, speed limiter removed (had it up to 135mph) and all nannies disabled. However this does throw a code and has to be cleared or the dealership will find it. Im not allowed to tell how it was done, but it can be done. The truck shifting into second is the reason Unichip and every other aftermarket company has not shown dynos, only gains. Andrew figured this out.

well nola fyi the reason y the 4.7s get the 3rd switch cause the 5.7s didnt want to wait for the third switch. they had to crack the codes then hurry and get them out THATS Y. we r gonna b the first of all toyotas to try it out and mike said that it should get better gas mileage around town. the flux does not make a difference or not cause the flux was offered to me and i got it to so that will be 3 switches and the flux and the flux isnt gonna b ready for awhile. and when they do he was saying everybody going on a group buy. so i eliminated all that group buy on the flux and bought it. So nola thanks for the group buy

it was disabled for the tune, but it can be left off, however along with losing the speed limiter and traction control, you also loose your ABS so its not the safest thing. besides our tires arent rated for 130+ mph, and even with s/c you'll never hit that speed in the 1/8 or 1/4 so whats the point besides knowing that you could? It has nothing to do with the tune.
