i dont think unichip will ever allow the end user to be able to tune it would just take one little mistake and boom
You could be right, but they stated that it would be fool-proof. Many other tuners allow end user tuning. Those who have no clue or don't want to risk it, will still go to a professional, but those who have done it before will try it on their own. I don't think someone with your ability has anything to worry about, I would rather pay you to get those gains instead of trying on my own.
In case you all haven't noticed yet, I posted a poll a few minutes ago gauging interest in a high performance torque converter and shift kit from the leader in this technology. Please vote.

You Talkin about IPT? I had a shift kit from them on my 01'. I freaking loved it. Best mod I did beside the Unichip. Of course I wish I would have done that before my first transmission gernaded on me. Would have saved me $4k. Gotta love those first gen (00-01) Tundra 4 speeds.

have your unichip tuner call me and i will talk to him about the fix for the dyno
My Unichip dealer is in The Netherlands and probably does not want to call you because of costs/language. Can you help me and send me a PM, mail or fax.
Someone goes out and pays 25 - 45 THOUSAND dollars for a truck and then gripes about having to pay 3-4 HUNDRED dollars for a custom tune.
I don't get it.
Where in the world did you pull that number out of ????? It's $780 for the chip alone, then another $300-$400 for a tune. almost 3X your numbers !!!!!!

Hey Gettin Loose, how are those new and improved maps working out for you?
NOLA, At 30 miles per hour this truck will LIGHTEM UP on dry pavement!!!!! The throttle response is incredible, as far as map C goes I think someone trying to conserve fuel could possibly see 3 miles per gallon in city driving. Now with my driving habits, I have seen a huge gain in map C. You just cant dump fuel in the economy map unless you are at half throttle or higher. Honestly I cant stay in map C for long amounts of time!!! you see I like to drive fast (lol)

I finally have the chip installed in my 4.7. I accidentally ran the truck with the switch in pos 2 (high octane) with normal gas. No dyno needed to
know that there was a definite kick in the pants, and I'm not talking about a "feelin it cause I bought it" thing either. After getting a CEL I realized
I was on the wrong map. I will run the rest of this tank in 1 and then go back to 2 with premium. It will be a couple of weeks before I get to test out econo (3).
Even in mode 1 there is some increased pick up and its really smooth, but the time spent in "go fast" mode has clouded my seat of the pants judgement.
When changing modes (maps) does it take some time for the engine to adjust, or is the effect immediate?
So far I'm a happy camper...just hoping I dont get a CEL with premium!
I just want to say special thanks to Marinus Kuyl at Unichip a great customer service who will go beyond to get my correct chip exchanged to me fast due to a misplace by my distributor.
Hey nola do you ever plan on going to the track with your truck or possibly just getting a dyno run done with it?
Id like to see if the uniship helped more than my long tube headers or vice versa..
Charles
