haha i was being sarcastic tho.. my dyno sheet was on page 33? or 34?
only way to get real whp is getting custom tune
other than that .. i don't believe my truck is much faster, might be slower
but the gas milage ehh? i don't drive enough i guess to see the difference..unlike some people on here
Thanks for the response, sorry you couldn't have more positive to say. Video would be the most convincing/helpful tool for me. Someone who's got the dyno tune showing how fast it accelerates and crisp the shifts are would be great. Nobody seems too interested though.

Not to upset anyone, but why is this an issue about gains and performance? No two trucks run the same, so to think that the chip out of the box was gonna work 100% for everyone is dumb. Those who have trucks that run similar to the one tested by unichip probably got good gains, those that are off, will have less. A custom tune is needed simple as that, and it works great. If it cost too much to get a tune or a tuner is too far, maybe this is something that should have been considered prior to buying one. And whats worse is some people that dont even have a unichip are complaining about it.
Bottom line, the chip does work, and works well, you just may have to invest a little more. I doubt anything else coming out will give better gains. This is after all is a gas motor...and a simple chip is not gonna give you 100+hp or 150+ tq.
But 20+hp and 50+ tq from a chip on a gaser is pretty damn good i think.

I'll be going to Fontana dragway in a few weeks and post numbers and as was stated nothing was done with shift firmness (much needed)

I have had my Unichip installed for a month now. I keep it on the higher performance since I run premium in my truck. As far as I can tell, it does pull a little harder. The gas milage has actually gone down from about 16.5 in the city to 15.5 on average. Now, the reason I really decided to post today is I am having a problem with my truck and I believe the Unichip is the reason for the problem. I was driving home earlier from work and I pull off from a stop sign an it felt like it puddered alittle and the truck simply cut off. Good thing I was only going 25 mph becaus the steering wheel locked up. I stopped, put itin park, and it cranked right back up, but with the traction control light on and the VSC blinking and the check engine light was on.... I made it home. I had to go back into work after changing over, with the same lights on. I get bck in my truck after work and the lights were off, the truk felt good, everything was runing fine I come trough the front gate to wear I live and BAM! the same thing happens again wih people behind me.... lucky for m i could turn the steering wheel just enough to get me barely off the road to stop and restart it. From my accessment, it only does it when I accelerate so this led me to believe it is the Unichip messing with the fuel/air ratio. Do you guys think the same? I did call Unichip which another guy forwarded me to tech which then Iget a voice mail.... some customer service. I did leave a voice message, however, I do not feel my truck is safe at the moment... What if my wife is driving the truck at a higher rate of speed....

To be clear, the steering will not lock up just because the truck shuts off. Don't let yourself believe that it will (if you convince yourself the truck won't turn, then you probably won't try hard enough to actually make it turn). The steering will get stiff, yes, but not lock up. Without power steering it will be hard to turn the wheel at low speeds, but it would actually be easier to turn the faster you are going.
As for what's happening with your truck, I have no idea, but I really hope UniChip gets something sorted out for you. Like you say, it isn't safe to be driving a truck that is going to be randomly shutting off. And make sure your wife knows that the steering won't lock up and that she just has to put a lot of muscle into the wheel to turn.
Also, if the truck happens to die again, all you need to do is put the transmission in neutral and restart the engine - no need to stop!
I wouldn't automatically blame the unichip...I have heard of others with similar experiences in stock trucks, but a loose connection on the wiring harness could probably cause this....make sure you have good connections everywhere.
One a side note one of our performance parts suppliers (who will remain unnamed) said good things about the unichip hardware itself. I bet I will probably rave about it once I get a dyno tune.
I was one that had problems with my unichip. In A map the truck ran like a dog. It felt as if I was pulling a 5000 lb trailer behind me. I thought maybe I had the switch in the wrong position. I switched to B map and all though it ran better when it was cold at night, during the day it sounded like a diesel when you stepped on the gas. I spoke with unichip about this and actually sent it back to have them check it over. When I get it back I will see if there is any improvement. If it does the same thing then I will most likely get a custom tune to see whats going on. I paid for the flux but I may ask them to just reimburse me the cost (since I never got it) and use the money for the custom tune. I was hoping this was just going to be a plug and play and that with the flux I could upload more maps as time goes on. I now think just a good tune is all it needs. My question is anyone know of a good tuner in northern california. Most of the people on unichips website either don't carry their product anymore or only use it for BMW's and are not interested in the Tundra. There is one place in livermore (modacar) i believe who said they would do it for $150.00 an hour. That seems high but I am more concerned that I will spend $400.00 and only get a decent tune. Has anyone heard of them or recomend anyone in the bay?
I have not heard great things about Modacar. I don't have personal experience. If we had enough up here, we could get a tuner to come up from S. Cal and rent a dyno. I don't know of any other norcal guys with a unichip.
Let us know who it runs when you get it back.

I could potentially come down to your area if you want to set something up with a good tuner.

When I called modacar they told me they have not done a tundra as yet. They said 150 per hour and 2 to 3 hours. didnt ask if that was both maps. I am leary of letting them learn on my truck @ 150 an hr. I have heard nothing ether good or bad about them.
If we could get a tuner with good credentuals (ie knowing how to overcome problems like only getting 2nd gear pulls) I would be interested in a tune.
I seem to remember other tuners in the area. Modesto and Sacramento come to mind, but I would have to check again.
