Well I was driving to grab lunch this afternoon and the truck quit on me. Luckily on a small back road with no one around. WTF! The truck started right up so I didn't think anything of it. It would have been really dangerous if I were on the highway as I lost power stearing and brakes.

Was getting ready to leave work and the truck wouldn't start. Just a bunch of warning lights blinking. Disconnected the battery and first thing I went for was to take off the Unichip and wiring harness off of the truck. Took me over an hour to get take off the wiring harness and reinstall the two plugs into the the ECU. What a pain in the *** the bottom plug is to get off and back on again. Would have really sucked if I wasn't at work and didn't have access to tools.

Got everything back together (without Unichip) and truck started right up. Something is either screwed up with the Unichip wiring harness or the connections to ECU were loose. Problem is that the OEM wiring loom is so short and it is a pain in the *** to connect everything. I am going to leave off the Unichip for now as have to take it to the dealer for regular service.

Just dissapointed. I liked the Unichip as it feels like it gave me more power. Plan on calling them to try and figure things out. Just so hard to install and unistall. Feel like I am going to break something in the process.

That's my rant!!

Lets us know if unpluging the unichip solves the problem and what unichip says.

Definitely will. Just letting others know incase they have a similary issue.

The biggest problem is putting the Unichip on. It's not really "plug and play". The plugs connecting to the ECU are plastic and I already broke one of the clips. Just doesn't look designed to keep putting on and taking off.

I can already tell you what they are going to say. I was having the same probs. The guys at Unichip need to know what is triggering
the lights / shutdowns. You need to put the chip back in, drive until you get a light, then get the computer scanned for the fault codes.
I had many lights after putting my chip in the first time. After a month I took it out to return it for a re-tune. I was disappointed when Michael
told me to put in back in because it is a pain!! Anyway...I put it back in thinking I would get a CEL that day.... but here it is 2 weeks later
and I have not had a problem!! I'm becoming very optomistic that my problem may be solved

Well I hope your problem is solved. The thing is that I have had it on since the beginning of September trouble free. Then all of the sudden it started giving me issues. It is winter and I don't really feel like getting stranded somewhere and have to deal with taking this thing on and off to get my truck to run right. Kind of sucks

I wonder if the winter gas is having some effect with the unichip. I have been running the chip since Sept. with no probs but as of the past month I can here a difference in sound of the truck. Almost a kind of sputter sound when I let off the gas. I will be taking the truck in Dec 29th for some other warranty work so I will run it for a month or so without and see. Without the chip my truck turns my exhaust pipes black.

Mine ran well just like yours until.... Well, it died on me and went into nanny mode and I couldnt give it any throttle to get out into traffic. Basically, I had to let the vehicle idle up to speed. Not very safe. I did the disconnect the battery thing and all went well... for a few days. Then it did it again. Disconnect battery fixed it again.

The third time it did it to me I was en route to my house down a rural road returning from out of town. Limped it into a closed service station, crawled under the hood, disconnected the battery, and took out the tuner. I have not had a problem for almost a month now. The truck runs better than it ever did with the tuner. It gets almost 3 mpg more than with the tuner in either A or B mode. And I found out how to install my factory harness without the little levers on the tightening clamps on the harness (since they broke due to the tight constraints).

What a pain. As I stated when I first got the tuner... it would have been nice to have made the wiring on the tuner a bit longer for an easier mounting task. Was just as much a pain to take out as it was to install. But, hey, live and learn. I think I will just leave it out and keep my better gas mileage, better performance, and, all things being equal, and a dependably running truck.

I hear ya. I guess I had different results as I was truly happy as I have felt a decrease in performance since I removed the chip. No change in mileage on or off. I just don't like the fact of possibly being stuck somewhere. Just wish it was a little easier to pull off and put on. Live and learn. I am hoping to send it back to them to have them check everything and will try it again. I really wanted to get a custom tune in the spring, but we will see what happens

Mine did the same thing one day when it was raining.. Found that unichip module was getting water on the connections. I dried it off and remounted it on the inside fender with connectors down worked fine again.

They should be using something waterproof, like Weatherpacks. In the interim, a little dielectric grease on the connectors will make them more water resistant after you clean and reassemble them.
